The Templar knights were a catholic military order founded in 1119 by Papal Bull, of the Holy See. The group was active from 1129-1312. The Templar knights were in alliance with the pope, until the members were charged with numerous offence, including financial corruption, fraud, and secrecy. Many of the men accused confessed, due to the torture they were put through.
Documents known as the Chinon Parchment resurfaced in 200, which contained information about the trials. The current position of the Roman Catholic Church is that the trials were unjust.

The Crusades were a series of holy wars in Jerusalem between the Muslims and Christians from 1095 to 1291. The first Crusade was sanctioned by Pope Urban ll with an influential speech calling upon people to fight and recover the Holy Land at the Council of Clermont in France. The Roman Catholic Church sent over 37 000 men to fight at the first Crusades however most of these men died and never returned to Europe. Crusaders were greatly influenced by the Catholic Church as they fought for the benefit of being forgiven of their sins and free of debt and taxes.
The Order of the Knights Templar are a group that has never been fully understood by the general public. I personally make no claim to the fact that I can shed light on the subject, but I would like to suggest a theory as to why, over time, the Knights became a symbol of humble beginnings and pure intention.

The Knights Templar, a military order devoted to protecting the Christian pilgrims in the Holy Land, was one shrouded by power and mystery. Originally known as the Poor Knights of the Temple of King Solomon, it was initially a group dedicated to the protection of Christians traveling into the Holy Lands after Jerusalem was captured by the Christians. A French knight named Hugues de Payens was the founder of the Knights Templar order in 1118 A.D, but it was not until the order received the endorsement of the Pope
The group was founded in the year 1118 by Hugh de Payens, who later would become the first Grand Master of the Knight Templar. They are most widely recognized because of the red cross they wore on their tunics, though that right wasn’t given to the group until 1147 by Pope Eugene III (Biema). The knights were to protect people during their pilgrimage or travels to the Holy Land. The Knights had two groups.

It all began when (shar-luh-meyn) Charlemagne, the King of the Franks, began to use soldiers on horses, in order to fight battles across his large empire. They were the first knights of the Middle Ages and they became a very important part of his army. The earliest knights were considered to be the officers of the Greek and Roman armies and some were hired men that took oaths of loyalty to any nobleman or warlord that offers the most money. Soon, land was given so the soldiers could receive an income from those lands and could afford multiple horses, armor, and weapons.
