Why Did Japan Attack Indochina

Before the attack, Japan was in the process of acquiring land in Indochina. The Soviet Union offered protection from Britain and the U.S. while expanding into their conquest of Indochina. Britain, the Netherlands, and the U.S wanted to stop Japanese expansion so they froze Japanese assets, which included heir oil supply. This prevented them from becoming stronger and furthering their takeover.
December 7th , 1941- In response to the actions explained in the previous slides (the stoppage of assets), Japan surprised Pearl Harbor, a U.S. naval base located in Hawaii, with a barrage of firepower. They killed/wounded over 3,500 Americans and sank/badly damaged 18 ships - including all 8 battleships of the Pacific Fleet - and over 350 destroyed/damaged
