This miniscule word has inspired people and even started wars.This topic is rarely regarded; even though we would certainly know if someone took our freedom from us.

True freedom is not something that can be given. It is something that every single person must discover for themselves. If a person were set free, though still thought of themselves as a slave, they are a slave. America is a country that thrives on freedom. Though numerous people throughout the United States take this privilege for granted.

All around the world people talk about freedom; America has more freedom than Russia, twenty-one years old as more freedom than a fifteen year old. What does “freedom” mean? Many have different definitions of “freedom”. For some it could be the freedom to speak and act as you want and others it could be to go where ever you want.

Freedom means different things to different people at different times, depending on what political context is being used. The two major senses of freedom are: freedom of and freedom from. Freedom of means freedom to do something. It is the lack of constraints on behavior. Freedom from means immunity from discrimination and it comes close to the concept of equality.

Freedom is something that many Americans take for granted. In the US, freedom is seen as an inalienable right. Americans are very fortunate to be able to have this mindset. Freedom is the right to live life in a fashion that creates a desired effect. A couple of authors who discuss the definition of freedom are Jerald Jellison and John Harvey in “What is Freedom,” and Walt Whitman in “I hear america singing.”

Freedom is defined in many different ways: The state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint;Political or national independence; Personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery.(Dictionary)

Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn’t have these barriers, they don’t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their mind, I think they’ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and the freedom to do what they please.

Freedom has been discussed for a while now and yet no one can agree it exists. The conflict over the meaning of freedom continues to exist from the civil war, throughout the sixties. The Civil War was fought over the question of what freedom means in America, for us in this present date to have freedom is being able to enter any public place whenever you want without being told you cannot enter, also not having to worry if you are going to be arrested if you enter the wrong restroom or don’t give up your seat to a white person. For more than a century African Americans demanded and fought for freedom; progressive freedom. African American wanted equality that gave them voting rights, civil rights, education and public health. Some of the most

What makes us Americans? And what makes people from all over the world want to become U.S. citizens? The U.S. Constitution, a four-page document written more than 200 years ago, is part of the reason. “We the People…”.These are the first three words of the United States Constitution, a document that defines the structure of the U.S. government, and is the foundation for the freedoms and responsibilities of U.S. citizens. In the United States, a country with people from many different backgrounds, the principles of our Constitution unite all of us as a nation.

What is freedom? Are we born with it? Or is it something that is an absolute right? People always refer to the United States as ‘’the land of the free’’. Our Constitution states that everyone has the freedom of speech, religion and rights. I find it would be unconstitutional and immoral to take away or regulate the personal freedoms of any citizen rights it guarantees. Freedom is different in many ways culture to culture. Some cultures define freedom as a natural right that the human being is born with. Would you want to live in a country where you couldn’t voice your opinion and make your own personal decisions and have the government do it for you? The U.S will no longer be a free country if the country regulates an individual’s freedom by not allowing the people of The United States to have the power to right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Today we accept that freedom is a basic right human right but what exactly is freedom. 1On one hand, there is physical freedom. People who are not imprisoned or enslaved are free. On the other hand, there is freedom as a the right to act, speak or think what you want. People cannot reach their full potential if they are not free in both senses of the word.

What does freedom mean? Freedom is the state of being free or under physical restraint, it also can mean that you are not owned by anybody. It's our birthright as Americans to be free.

Freedom has a large range of meaning. The encyclopedia Britannica defines freedom as “the quality or state of being free, and the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action” (Britannica). In the American society there is a lot of emphasis on freedom, and the right to be free, but one must question to what extent we are truly “free”.
