What Does Freedom Mean To Me?

But if you feel freedom is the ability to do what u want within certain boundary or guidelines then America is free. In my opinion America is a free country. This is because I feel like freedom has boundaries there no such thing as 100% freedom without consequences. Everything you do has consequences.

Are Americans truly free? Many people would say no they are not truly free and others would say that they are. We barely have any rights and we have to listen to others . Americans are not truly free what so ever. Here are a couple reasons why we are not free.

As you can see freedom can be very different to many people cultures and even nations because for one thing being free might just be over looked as playing it safe by something as major as America wanting independence. America did not know its full potential until we had a war and decided that we would no longer be ruled and realized how much greater we were than the so called Great Brittan. Just to soon become a super power nation Who struck fear on even its original creators who could no longer hold us down, after all this s the lad of life Liberty and Pursuit of happiness.

Freedom isn’t given, it’s most definitely taken. There are far more factors playing against freedom than there are supporting freedom such as the greed for power, the countless secrets of multiple governments, and segregation. It may seem easy to some, but freedom is a blood, guts, and glory kind of deal. No country has ever received freedom before battling in a gruesome war or developing an uproar.

The freedom that our Founding Father fought for back then is now the key to being an American, to be an American is to have freedom. To ask why we fight is to ask why do leaves fall. It is in our nature as human being. A better question is why do we fight-- to protect, for freedom and for independent.

In the past, freedom has never been easy to attain. It came after years of abuse, fighting and corruption. No one has ever just been handed their freedom, it had to be earned. It was earned through fights, verbal and violent. It was earned after blood, sweat and tears. The question has arrised asking “Is freedom ever given?” and to this question the answer is a simple, but strong No. The two speeches, ‘The Gettysburg Address’ by Abraham Lincoln and ‘I have a Dream’ by Martin Luther King prove this. No, freedom is never given, it obviously must be demanded, this is proven through the rhetorical devices and tone as shown in the US seminal documents.

The meaning of this poem is that the poet knows the struggles of slaves and how they feel. Line 1 suggest that he knows what it feels like to be in custody, when one desires to be free. Lines 2-6 suggests all of the enticing things in the free world. Thus, making one want to be free. Nature is a beautiful and peaceful place, and to be free in it is a dream of one in captivity. The poet is using a caged bird to compare someone that is imprisoned. The second stanza suggests that he understands why imprisoned people fight and injure themselves to be free. I can imagine freedom three different ways. One way I can imagine it is as slavery wise , which I believe it’s very hard to imagine your freedom for most of the people . Some slaves will never have freedom , because they’re slaves and they’re traded back and forth for years and years even their children are slaves and are traded back and forth there’s no freedom for some slaves that don’t have an imagination.

What Freedom Means To Me Freedom is defined in the dictionary as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. In America we have all these things that the dictionary says that freedom is. We have the freedom to worship God how we please, we have the right to voice our opinion and we have the right to have our own thoughts without the government punishing us as citizens. Our forefathers a very long time ago made sure that we had these freedoms when they wrote the Bill of Rights.

Today we accept that freedom is a basic right human right but what exactly is freedom. 1On one hand, there is physical freedom. People who are not imprisoned or enslaved are free. On the other hand, there is freedom as a the right to act, speak or think what you want. People cannot reach their full potential if they are not free in both senses of the word.

Did you know that there are 130,000 to 200,000 homeless veterans every year? That number is way too high. I think that veterans are the main symbol of freedom. They are the ones that have fought for it. If we didn’t have veterans we wouldn’t have our freedom. My Grandpa is a veteran of the Vietnamese War. Every day he talks about what he did in the war and I thank him sometimes for giving up something for our freedom. Freedom to me also means being able to wake up and go to a Kansas State Wildcat game every Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, also if I didn’t have freedom I wouldn’t be able to play video games and play football outside with my friends or family. Merriam Webster states freedom means, the quality or state of being free: such as liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another: independence (Webster, 2017 p.1). Freedom didn’t come easy to the enslaved, it took the fight of others and the enslaved to gain equality. Freedom to slaves began because of many abolitionists who wanted to fight for slaves because they didn’t agree with slavery. One major individual was Abraham Lincoln who fought and signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, which allow the slaves on paper to be free in states of Confederacy. Even thought slaves were freed, it didn’t mean that their troubles were gone, freed slaves still struggled for equality.

To me the term “freedom” means being free to live your life in whatever way you wish. When I say this, I don’t mean when a high school kid finally moves out for college and doesn’t have to report to their parents every time they leave their dorm room. I mean how we are able to live a free life here in the United States of America. When we take a step back and look at all the different countries who are in poverty we need to realize how truly blessed we are. There are many different countries out there where the citizens don’t live a life of “freedom”. My definition of freedom could be very different than someone else’s definition of freedom. Freedom is a term that can have a different meaning for each individual sitting down at a table.
