While choosing a topic, I feel as if I sometimes choose a very broad subject with the topic having lots of opportunities to go in different ways. When trying to decide which direction to go, sometimes I feel as if I start to write off subject just because of all the information I have. Lastly, when writing the final paragraph of my essay the conclusion, I feel as if after I sometimes write to much off subject, my conclusions become inadequate due to to much information in the general paper. 6. Writing is an essential part of learning and is a skill that we all have to master over time, especially throughout our years dedicated to school. As a writer I feel comfortable in my ability to write and express my feelings over a topic. Even though I feel this way, I know there are several things I need to improve before I can be completely satisfied with my writings. This year I feel I will be able to accomplish this goal. In order to do this I will write about many different topics and use many different forms of writing. In the past I have written lots of pieces involving various stories, recollections, and reports. Through these experiences I have been able to develop a basic understanding of a few different types of writing styles, vocabulary and the many tones you can use to set the mood. By learning these things and reading the works of other authors, I have been able to expand my vocabulary and make the overall process of writing much easier to perform at a high level. Even though all of these things have helped me greatly, I still have a lot of things to learn in order to improve my writing.
Over the course of the school year, I have improved in writing, as well as typing and have also adapted to the use of tools and sources to accomplish the assigned writing prompts. This writing assignment was handed out to help me question if whether I’ve improved my literary skills at all or not, and if so why? Or why not?
First, you have to think about how you want to identify your sources. If your sources are very important to your ideas, you should mention the author and work in a sentence that introduces your citation. If, however, you are only citing the source to make a minor point, you may consider using parenthetical references, footnotes, or endnotes.
In this past 2 years I had been improving with my writing. Mainly, when I am not having the pressure of the essay I relax more. For example, write in discussion with classmates it is a less stressful process for me. Also, I love to talk about something that I know as in the case of the first week of this class the blog. I wrote more than 300 words without difficulties. I think for the first time enjoyed writing.
Third, my personal form of writing has changed dramatically throughout the course of my writing career. Essays went from casual and sloppy to formal and uniform. When I first started to write all the paragraphs I wrote were disarranged and horrific. Two topics were distorted into one paragraph, some paragraphs had nothing to do with the topic, so on and so forth. My style of writing has come such a long way, mainly because of my use of diction and grammar. Without my improvement of those two aspects my writing had no chance of changing the course from casual to
Since early high school, I have known my academic writing has needed improving. But, I lacked the knowledge of how to improve. Consequently this self-reflection task has given me the time and the purpose, to gain knowledge of how to improve and to set a plan for my learning journey. The feedback and analysis from online tools; Pro writing aid, Writer’s Diet and Paper Rater, and Grellier and Goerke’s Communication skills toolkit (2010), clarified that this journey is important for me to take. I will use these web resources and written text, to edit my final drafts and improve the readability of future academic writing assessments. The goal in using these tools, it to recognise mistakes, such as writing long sentences, over using pronouns and writing in the passive voice. I expect that my personal, academic writing skills will improve. Therefore, I hope to adjust my writing style, resulting in fewer drafts before submission.
To improve something, usually takes time and since the first day of class on August 19th my sentence writing has became exceptionally better. In my argumentative essay I used limited sentences structures and had multiple fragments. In the essay I used two types of sentences I knew about, the others came by a way of accident. I only knew how to write simple sentences and compound sentence. I could have made more complex sentences if didn’t cut of sentences with a period. I later improved this in a later assignment of proposing a solution, where we I knew how to write all four sentence types and this
