In Bolivia, Christmas, called Navidad in Spanish, is a two week holiday from December 24th till January 6th. Bolivia is a more religious country, especially when it comes to Christmas because 81% of the population is Catholic and almost 14% is Protestant and Evangelic.
The Catholics celebrate this holiday by going to a midnight mass service on Christmas Eve called the 'Misa De Gallo' or the mass of the rooster. Bolivia was conquered in the 1500’s by Spain, but became independent in 1825. Home to the Andes Mountains and several tropical rain forests, Bolivia is a major vacation spot. The country was named after a previous general from Venezuela who helped them gain their freedom from Spain. Interestingly enough, Bolivia has two capitols which are Sucre and La Paz. Despite the fun fact, that Bolivia has two capitols in their country, their history proves just how hard they had to work to get that freedom (World Book 442-446).

Christmas in Dominican Republic was the best time. My grandmother and my uncles would kill a pig for Christmas’ Eve and all of my cousins and I would play hide and seek into the night. Also, we had a chicken that would always jump on my little cousin as soon as she came to our house. We would always laugh and tell her the chicken did not like her.
