The holocaust was a horrific event in which six million Jews died. There have been many books written about this horrendous experience. In this book, I read the author gives a good description of what he experienced. It makes you feel many emotions and realize how cruel it was.In the autobiographical novel, Night by Elie Wiesel faith and religion are one of the most important themes because throughout the book is about how Eliezer Wiesel needed his faith to keep him alive, but also was losing it throughout the process.

Throughout the book you could see how faith and religion play a big role in it. Since the beginning you see how Eliezer is an extremely religious boy who has a very powerful faith and see the changes of it. Faith is really essential because Eliezer has to try to keep his faith in God, himself, and in humanity. Eliezer and the villagers are forced to give up on their religion because that is what has sentenced them to this terrible treatment. Their religion has also not prepare them to be ready to experience the things on the concentration camps (Dougherty). Such as the burning of people this has not prepared them for this because they can’t belive God would let this to happen because of God being good (Wiesel 32). An example would be how Akiba Drummer is always saying to not lose faith in God because he is only testing them. This shows that this is helping him still have hope and faith.
