Desmond Doss was a medic in World War II who earned both his Medal of Honor and his title of being a moral hero at the battle of Okinawa. Desmond Doss’s refusal to carry arms into the midst of the battle of Okinawa and the saving of his abusive comrades in the heat of battle shows me that if this man can be incredibly kind to his aggressors and follow his beliefs in the face of persecution, then I too can love my enemies in much easier circumstances.
