What three things initially motivated you to start college? As I pondered on this question for several weeks, my initial motivations for starting college remain unchanged. Resembling others who begin their journeys towards higher education my family, my children, and my future goals are what initially motivated me to begin my own journey. As a young child, I had endless goals of who and where I wanted to be as an adult, however, similar to countless others, I temporarily lost the way to my destination. Thankfully, after several years of my family constantly pushing me to achieve my goals I gave in to temptation. Honestly, I was beginning to feel mediocre in a family now recently full of graduates and college students. Having a sister with a …show more content…
As a parent, we wish to see our children succeed, however, without a parent to motivate them to do so, they may fall short of their successes. Recently, realizing as much as my children motivate me to succeed, I’m also a motivating factor in their lives. In addition to, having the drive to get my degree, I’ve noticed a change in the way my children perceive education. Last school year was seemingly hectic for my children, peer pressure and bullying took a toll on their schoolwork. Even though I tried my hardest to explain the importance of education, my stern lectures only sunk in enough to assist them through the school year. How could I truly teach the importance of education, if I didn’t complete my education? Remembering the saying I’ve heard over the course of my own childhood, it was time for me to “lead by example”. Something I, unfortunately, didn’t have until my early adult years. Although, under no circumstances is it ever too late, I figure the earlier the more …show more content…
Determining, it was time for a transformation, only a brief while ago, I knew it would have to be a drastic one. Although, my previous occupation could’ve sufficed for many years to come, after a decade it became unbearable. No longer being able to separate work from home it began to take a toll on my personal life. I must admit, I enjoyed making others content, however, the latter part of the job remained extremely hard to get over. With that being conveyed, I decided it was time to regroup. Unfortunately, regrouping, wasn’t going to be as effortless as imagined without the knowledge and education to do so. Now determined, to acquire a degree in a field, where I can make an individual’s life jovial, without altering my life outside of
Six years after graduating High School, I have finally decided to pursue a college education. Three, fairly common, factors played in to my decision to go back to school: learning new things, building confidence in myself and pursuing my desired career. I understand that graduating college is a difficult task, which is why I must make a plan for my success and stick to it. I must also rely on my personal strengths and my motivation to guide me through the tough times that I am sure to experience on my road to success to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I have always been a person who is eager to learn new things.
Choosing to attend college was a difficult choice, my mother is the only person in all of my family to ever attend and graduate college. My father and the rest of my family have all gone into trade work, some of them attending a trade school and some not. While all of my family does well and live a comfortable lifestyle. I have noticed through the years that my mother has always been employed even when others in my family have not and she always seems to have an easier time finding work. This is the main reasons I decided to attend college, with higher education often times comes more job security and stability. I decided to attend CU boulder specifically due to the fact that it is very close to home, as well as the fact that it is a very
Why did I decide to attend college? I chose this path for my life when I was very young, both of my parents attended some form of higher education. They both ended up living fairly well, I decided that I wanted to be successful in life as well and that going to college would be an integral part of my future. I want to be able to live in comfort; be able to be a productive member of my community still, become an adult, and be able to understand things in a new light.
I decided to go to college because I believe that education is an important part of life and that being educated has many advantages. Like many, one of the biggest reasons for deciding to attend college is to create a better future for myself. Being a first-generation college student my parents have implanted on me the importance of college education, as it is something they wish they would have done themselves. As the first of four children to go to college, I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good example to my younger siblings, and show them that it is important to have goals in life and to better yourself as a person through education. I understand that an university education may not be for everyone, but it felt like the right choice for me. What I hope to get out of college is a life-changing experience, not only to get a better education, but to find something I am truly passionate about. I think it is important when choosing a career or a major to find something your heart truly wants and not just a career that will make you able to afford expensive things. I also hope that somewhere along the path to graduation and adulthood, I find myself as a person and develop ideas, opinions, and to be able to approach the world with an
I have so many reason why I wanted to attend DCCC and each decision that I make at DCCC is that I’m gonna face it till the very end of my courses. I always wonder how can I get a step further in life and how can I get my stuff done and start early and there was an option that was given to me in my 8th grade year and it was a sign up for an orientation for Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy a school where you can learn how to start you career and be professional looking/acting when applying for a job that suit you better. I came to Yadkin Valley for orientation where you can check the school out, but I had a little problem I didn’t have my glasses so couldn’t really see how the school look because my eyes were blurry, but I notice that I really didn’t need to see just listen to the teachers and how they talk and communicate and how they tell us what we be learning and discover while we are here at Yadkin Valley and what they have in store for us and then I heard a
Even at a young age, people begin to ask you what you want to be when you grow up. Children’s answers will range anywhere from ballerina, to firefighter, to President of the United States. However, as you get older, the question becomes more serious. As a high schooler, you feel as if you need to know exactly where you will end up thirty years into the future. Since senior year began, I have tried my best to understand my strengths and goals in life so that I can prepare for my future.
There was many reasons why I decide to attend college. I am extremely tired of applying for distinctive positions and being rejected for not having a degree. I'm a supervisor now over thirty employees when I see different positions opening in management or higher position. I apply on behalf of the job, gain being interviewed for my experience. Nevertheless, not having a college degree really afflicts me. As a result, I decided to attend college and further my education.
I am a Hispanic who lives with wonderful parents who unfortunately could not go to college. It was very expensive for them to attend college. I will be a first generation college student seeking to make a statistical change. I want to be one of those few Hispanics that do go to college and end up getting a doctorate degree. I have lived all my life with one goal: to earn my doctorate degree. I am a young adult fully aware of the hard physical labor my parents have to go through each day to provide for our family. By helping them, I am more aware of how difficult it really is for them. I do not want to live in the tradition of most Hispanics: I do not want to end up in a job in construction, or landscaping that will not allow me to develop my
It seems that this day and age, college is becoming a very crucial part of today's society. Without college it is very difficult to get a job in a field that you want to be in, but at the same time it is difficult for people without a degree to maintain their job. This is why it is very important for a person to complete college. Hutchinson Community College, like many other colleges, is working to prepare their students for life after they have graduated. Although there are many ways to improve a college to make people want to stay and finish their degree, the college should be aware of the students’ desire to finish the degree before they are accepted.
Recently, after I decided to join the military I decided it was time to begin attending school again. Many reasons influenced my decision. The biggest reason I could come up with is the fact that while utilizing tuition assistance I do not entail any financial obligations as long as I receive a passing grade in all my courses. Being in the military has also made me realize the importance of achieving a higher level of education. In order to be set apart among your peers you need to prove you are attempting to better yourself at every turn. Education is a great way to prove that. Not only that, education is one thing no one can ever take away from you. I'm applying to Colorado Christian University to see what amount of transfer credits I will
I want to use college as a way to become a better citizen by expanding my perspectives and opinions and providing me with new experiences and opportunities to engage with different people. I believe that Getting a college education will also give me the opportunity to build a better future for me and my family. By studying I hope to learn how I can improve the health of people in the diverse communities surrounding me and work to end the violence found within them.
As my senior year began I was currently enrolling into different colleges, Canisius College being one of them. Alot of questions were asked while enrolling such as, why would I be a good fit to the college, what are my interest, and of course what would be my preference in major. I was undecided and overwhelmed. I constantly changed my choice and told individuals different majors I could be interested in. Each day I enrolled into a new school, my major would be different, one day I would be into law, the next day forensics, the next week psychology, and then dentistry. Two different motivations that pushed me towards my major in adolescent education was my National Honor Society advisor and my favorite movie “Freedom Writers.”
Last school year I enrolled in the JAG program, although I wasn’t fully sure of what to expect from it I grew to love it. One of the reasons I enrolled was to fully understand the workforce and how to go about it. I’ve never had a job with a steady paycheck, I do have work experience from babysitting and my volunteer work as a camp counselor, but I’ve never really had a serious job. Being in JAG I’ve learned to understand more about what to expect from the work field, how to dress, speak, act, and how to fill out resumes and applications.
What motivates me to go to college,to put hard work in,day after day, and to achieve my goals in higher education is my parents and myself. Since I started elementary school my parents have always motivated me to go to college. I was always a good student, but, when I had entered seventh grade, it all changed. I really did not care about school, i have been just whatever about school period. Then it hit me again in my junior year of high school. Freshman and sophomore I was not really interested in school and didn 't think I was going to college. My parents had a talk with me and that talk changed me. They were just asking me what am I going to do with my life if I didn 't go on with school and all this other stuff that made me think really hard. I didn 't want to make my parents think that their son was a failure, they raised a failure. I changed my ways and started doing better in school and now I am currently attending Cal State University of Los Angeles. Now they are more proud than ever, me being the first one in my family to attend a university. My parents will always be my biggest motivators.
What motivates me most to pursue a college degree is opening new doors for career options and inspiring my daughter through my own actions to pursue lifelong learning. I have waited until this point in my life to take this first step for many reasons. I feel that I had a lot of fear of failure that kept me from pursuing this higher learning. I am in the right place mentally at this stage in my life and feel like I can fully invest in this experience and make it truly a success and representation of what I can do. I am also highly motivated by the fact that my career is truly stalled because I am not competition for someone that has equal experience and a degree. I plan to conquer that competition through this process.
