What do you think Harriet Tubman’s greatest achievement is? Well, Harriet was a remarkable woman, so there are multiple options to choose from. Born as Araminta Ross, Harriet was always a really tough, hard working girl. At 5 years old, she was already doing child-care. At 12 years old, she was doing hard field work. At a young age, she constantly lived with the fear of being seperated from her family, which eventually happened when she lost a couple of her sisters. One day in 1849, her master died, and she made the brave choice to escape. With courage, will, and grit, she earned her freedom. After becoming free, what Tubman did in her life is what represented great achievements. She was a Civil War Nurse, a Civil War Spy, a Caregiver, and a Conductor. After the Civil War ended, Tubman helped a variety of different people, including deserted babies, old people, and the disabled. She spent the last 48 years of her life helping about 6 to 8 people in her care. In Document E, it states that during the 48 years of Harriet’s life after the Civil War, “much of Harriet Tubman’s time was spent taking care of poor people in her home.” A great accomplishment has a couple aspects to it.
