What is War and How Has It Affected Our World?

World War II was a war of two military-political coalitions, which became the largest armed conflict in history. It was attended by sixty two countries. The fighting took place on the territory of three continents and on the waters of the four oceans. This is the only conflict where nuclear weapons used.

World War two was a horrific event that happened from 1939 to 1945. To begin, Germany ambushed Poland in 1939 that was just the beginning of World War two. In the article ‘Adolf Hitler’ it said ,”Hitler joined a small group of men who became known as Nazis. He soon became their leader. Hitler and his followers believed he could win back Germany's past glory.” Hitler wanted more land and the land his country lost in World War one. World War Two was a very catastrophic time period for most people, especially Jews. Millions of Jews were taken hostage and were killed. This War was thought to be “The most widespread and deadliest war in history” (World War II). Hitler created and led many disastrous events and a great deal of people suffered because of it. In 1939, Hitler invaded Poland, starting the war for the next heinous six years (World War II). He had a strong desire for world domination (World War II History) and would do anything to get it. World War Two was a very serious and devastating war, millions were killed out of spite.

In the 19th century, war was mostly fought in a gentlemanly way. Trench warfare was a puzzle to break and with each week it was not solved, millions lost their lives. When tanks entered the battlefield in 1916, the barbed wire was able to be broken and the fire from the enemy was useless. This is where the next tactic came to age, the blitzkreig. The blitzkrieg, translated to lightning warfare, was most notably used by the Nazi German army by combining fast moving tanks and dive bombing aircraft to take the area and infantry to hold the area. Within a little over a year of the first attack of Czechoslovakia, the Nazis were able to conquer all of europe using this tactic. The problem with this is that it is not very defensive. Once both the Soviets and the Allied forces broke through the main line, it took 9 months to capture Berlin. Some credit this victory for the Allies for the mass amount of propaganda first developed in World War I and perfected in World War 2.

But the Germans were not afraid to step in if they had to. The overall power of Germany was underestimated. Germany had some of the best planes out there. The Germans had many minds to create such monsters of planes. The power of Germany was help to the Americans. The Germans were helping by taking down the British during the American Revolution. But in World War II, they were against the Americans. The planes were the kings of the sky. Very few jets were out at that time. The prototypes for many were being tested. None of them ever came close to breaking the sound barrier.

At least thirty countries were involved in this global conflict and fifty million lives were taken as a result of the war including many civilian lives. This war would soon become known as the most gruesome war in all history as it took the lives of countless people across the world. The war began when the Nazi leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland. The war lasted for six long years until finally the Allied powers were able to defeat Germany and Japan in 1945.

The idea of war, just war, wars of aggression or any of the innumerable ways humans convey and justify war is certain an intangible. War has been part of human society for thousands of years, and it is unlikely that some sort of cultural or human conflict will ever be completely erased (Brodie, 1974, p. 276). One very standard definition of war states that it is a quarrel between nations conducted by force - essentially derived when two groups are unable to communicate reasonably and meaningfully and also when a group or individual's nature is collectively aggressive or violent, encouraging war for oppressive purposes. Historically, it was often easier to define what 'war' meant, but as we the 20th century changed the economic, cultural and political structure of the world, the idea of well-defined war becomes murky (Horgan, 2008). One obvious commonality throughout the historical record is the justification and/or cause of conflict. Points of view differ, but there is always a publicly justifiable reason for cultures to make war upon each other.

Throughout time, war has been very prominent to human life. Hate, racism, power, wealth, and cultural differences, have all been a necessity to start a war. Adolf hitler has been a symbol of socialism and genocide. Starting his empire, one of the biggest in history, he picked officers and lieutenants to help him dominate. These men are the war criminals of WW2, and they possessed power, and authority to kill millions. Men such as Vladimir Katriuk, Gerhard Sommer, and Johann Robert Riss.

World War II was the largest war and the bloodiest war that the U.S. has ever been involved in. Forty to Fifty million people lost their lives during World War II. This was a war that lasted for about six years and involved countries from around the whole world. The axis powers in the war consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan. The Allie powers consisted of the United States, France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and to a lesser extent, China. It is said that unsettled disputes from the first world war, World War I, is what was the main cause of WWII. Japan trained men for the war starting at the age of nine years old. It is said that of all the Soviet men that were born in the year 1923, only twenty percent survived the war. This means eighty percent of all males died in the war. That’s from one country, imagine how many innocent lives were taken during the war. All because of one man, Adolf Hitler.
