“Song of Myself”, by Whalt Whitman, is a poem included in the book Leaves of Grass written in 1855. This poem is probably the most popular of the entire book and, also, one of the most acclaimed and influential poems written by an American (Wikipedia, 2015). Due to its immense popularity, it has been translated to many different languages. In the case of Spanish translations, the most well-known version is the one translated by Borges in 1969. Despite its public acknowledgment, Borges’ translation is not completely faithful to the original poem.
