This leads to a witch-hunt. John Proctor and his wife Elisabeth realize that Abigail, with whom John once had an affair with, started all this in order to get Elizabeth hung in order for her to be able to get back together with John. Trying to save his wife’s life John testifies in court about the affair. Elizabeth trying to save her husband, and not knowing he admitted to it, denies it causing John to be accused of witchcraft. John was offered the chance to sign a confession and save his life but refuses to do so as he is concerned over the innocent citizens

Elizabeth Proctor is a Christian and holy woman who is married to John Proctor will never tell a lie. She lives on the outskirts of town and gets pregnant during the story. I am most parallel to Elizabeth Proctor because we are both loyal, forgiving, and caring.

Because Jealousy could lead a person to comment a crime, Abigail is motivated by jealousy of Elizabeth Proctor, “She thinks to dance with me on my wife’s grave!” (Page 194, Miller), and so she can marry John Proctor. She believes John loves her but he is still with his wife.

Goody Proctor, also known as Elizabeth Proctor, is the wife of John Proctor. Abigail Williams accused Goody Proctor of witchcraft. Abigail Williams was found with a needle in her stomach the same place where a needle was stuck in a poppet, in the belly. When she first heard she was accused of witchcraft it was like she already knew she would be accused "She wants me dead. I knew all week it would come to this!"

Elizabeth Proctor, the wife of John Proctor, finds out that her husband has an affair with Abigail Williams, her servant. Like every other woman, she couldn’t stand it and fired Abigail Williams. Suspicion still rests in her mind, but she’s still willing to be loyal to her husband. She lies to Danforth that her husband is not a lecher, when asked, to keep his name in the society. She doesn’t force her husband to confess when found guilty of being involved in witchcraft, even if it’s going to save his life. It all started with a group of young girls that were dancing around a fire at the middle of the night which is considered a sin and they chose to lie about it. After this event the leader of the group who is Abigail started to accuse many villagers of being a witch and john proctor wanted to ended it so he can save his wife from being in jail so he forces mary warren. One of the major reasons why she started to accuse people is because she wanted to be with john proctor in order to that she has to get rid of elizabeth of being a witch.in the the end many innocent people got hanged. Is to inform people of being wrongly accused.

In the beginning Elizabeth has little to no trust with John because of his affair with Abigail. Elizabeth states, “she doesn’t want friction, and yet she must: You come so late I thought you’d gone to Salem this afternoon” (Miller 51). The affair still bothers Elizabeth which is why she’s hesitating to question his whereabouts. She still doesn’t trust John after the incident.

In the town of Salem people are targeting others and blaming for witchcraft. The courts are trying to get to the bottom of it and the accuser just keep bringing more people in.
