In the balcony he declares, “My life were better ended by their hate than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.” One flaw is that he falls in love to easily. Romeo implies that he would rather die if Juliet did not love him. His eagerness to marry Juliet after meeting her causes him to speak irrationally. He also states, “O tell me, friar, in what vile part of this anatomy doth my name lodge? … that I may sack the hateful mansion.” Another flaw is his extreme hastiness. Romeo almost stabs himself with his dagger after hearing Juliet is in despair, but the friar immediately stops him. The reader sees Romeo’s last flaw when he declares, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight…Let me have a dram of poison.” After hearing the news of Juliet’s “death”, his impulsiveness causes him to visit the apothecary rather than waiting and or taking the time to think rationally. Throughout the play, Shakespeare showcases Romeo’s irrationality and poor decision making, leading to the gruesome deaths of his loved ones. Romeo is most to blame for the tragic slew of deaths because he is oblivious, quick to act, and too urgent in his relationship.
Romeo’s overly emotional personality and his obsession with love override his rational thought, which causes the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The death of Juliet is represented by Friar Laurence's passage, when he says that the parents love forced her to illness(death). Which begins when Balthasar rushes to him saying, “Her body sleeps in Capels' monument, / And her immortal part with angels lives. / I saw her laid low in her kindred’s vault” (Shakespeare 5.1.18-20). The loss his best friend and the news of his wife’s death resorts Romeo to ending his life. He does not take a few minutes to grief. Instead, the impact that the news has on him takes control and ruins his thought of the kind of life he expects to have with Juliet. Romeo’s hastiness appears once again when he decides to end his life to be with his only love. When he believes that Juliet is dead, Romeo says, “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide! /...Here’s to my love!” (Shakespeare 5.3.116-119). This proves that Romeo acts without thinking. He does not think to counsel with the Friar and try to understand what is going on. He immediately jumps to conclusion by poisoning himself to be with Juliet. As a result of Romeo’s imprudent decision, Juliet makes a reckless decision of her own. When she finds the dagger, she says: “O happy dagger, / This is thy sheath; (Stabs herself )/ there rust, and let me die (Shakespeare 5.3.161-167/169-170). The nurse later says that Romeo is a mere “dishclout” or dishcloth compared to the noble Paris.
Juliet went to the friar in her time of need and the friar came up with an over complicated plan that he did not have enough time for. Romeo and juliet could’ve easily gotten out of her marriage with Paris by saying that she was married to Romeo.Romeo and Juliet are the ones that ended their own lives.‘’Thy drugs are quick.
