Romeo and Juliet, a play by William Shakespeare, is a tragic story on a pair of two star crossed lovers. Both part of feuding families, Romeo of the Montagues, and Juliet of the Capulets, their love is kept secret in fear of their families finding out. Even so, in the end both Romeo and Juliet die, due to a multitude of factors. In the end, Romeo lead to the demise of him and Juliet by killing Tybalt and rushing to Juliet’s grave. To begin with, Romeo’s killing of Tybalt was a major factor to Romeo and Juliet’s demise. Soon after the killing of Tybalt and Mercutio, Lady Capulet angrily said, “ ‘Romeo slew Tybalt; Romeo must not live’ ‘Romeo slew him; he slew Mercutio’”( III. I. 190-191). This explains that Romeo killed Tybalt in a rage after …show more content…
While Romeo was waiting for a message from someone in Mantua, Balthasar rushed to where Romeo hid, and told him about Juliet’s “death.” In response Romeo said, “ ‘I will hence tonight.’ ‘I do beseech you sir have patience. Your looks are pale and wild…’ ‘... thou art deceived… Hast thou no letters to me from the Friar? ‘No, my good lord.’ ‘No matter. Get thee gone, and hire those horses…’”(V. I. 27-36). This shows, again, a rash decision to be made by Romeo, even Balthasar asking Romeo to think what he’s doing through. Although he asks Balthasar for letters, he doesn’t go and check with Friar directly and just takes Balthasar’s words even with his lack of knowledge for not asking Friar himself. In conclusion, another of Romeo’s bad decisions led further to his and Juliet’s …show more content…
After Romeo rushed to Juliet’s grave it is revealed to the reader that, “The letter… was of dear import, and neglecting it may do much danger. Friar John, go hence…” (V. III. 27-36). This shows that the letter was never sent to Romeo, only to be returned to Friar Lawrence by his brother at the moment. A lot of people say that this makes Friar the main cause of Romeo and Juliet’s demise. However, After the killing of Tybalt, Prince exclaims, “Let Romeo hence in haste, else, when he is found, that hour is his last….”(III. I. 204-205). This shows, again that the fault truly falls upon Romeo. If Romeo didn’t kill Tybalt, then Friar wouldn’t have had to try to solve the problem, which he didn’t have to do but did so out of the kindness of his heart. All the mistakes Friar made was him trying to fix the trouble that Romeo and Juliet got into. Along with that, when Friar tried to stop helping them, they made him force continuing by worrying him of them taking their own lives. In summary, Romeo and Juliet’s threats forced Friar to try to solve problems that were caused by
The Friar decided that Juliet would fake a death and Romeo would come and save her so they could live happily. This plan included many scenarios where something could go wrong, and many things did. First, the Friar composed a plan for Juliet to fake a death, and Romeo would receive a letter in the mail being informed of the plan. This did not work out, causing the plan to erupt. On line 467, the Review and Anticipate reminds the reader that “the friar has sent a messenger to Romeo in Mantua, where he is living in exile.” (Shakespeare 467) It was the Friar’s fault for making such a complex plan that would have many
Conclusively, it is the Friars' fault that Romeo and Juliet are dead, which makes him indubitably to fault for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Romeo, who is not apprised of the Friar's plan, kills himself when he discovers that Juliet is dead. Juliet arises and discovers Romeo dead, and takes her own life. The Friar is overcome by guilt and realizes that he has "...a short date of breath." (V iii 229) This could additionally be a confession that he is to inculpate. If the Friar was not the reason for the two suicides he would have no reason for
In the story of Romeo and Juliet, There will be a total of six deaths, which all fall into the hands of Tybalt's bad judgement dealing with Romeo's love for Juliet. Tybalt knew exactly what he was getting himself into, so if he would have backed away from Romeo, everything would be alright and Romeo and Juliet would still be together. Even though Mercutio stuck up for Romeo, Tybalt would have eventually got back at Romeo when there was nobody around to fight Tybalt. In the story, it is clear that Tybalt thinks highly of himself and he is not afraid to fight anybody that gets in his way and he was not going to let Romeo Marry his cousin, Juliet.
In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and juliet are most at blame for their own deaths.
Losing a close friend is always a very hard process. For me throughout this year losing my closest friend was very hard. Even though there is blame on both people since friendships require effort from both people, I understand Romeo’s rage and need for vengeance after losing Mercutio. Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare and is a story about forbidden love set in Verona, Italy in the 1500’s. Romeo falls in love with Juliet and marries her, and they’re very happy together until it’s all ruined over their families feud. Lives were taken and hearts were broken, leading to a tragic ending where the two lovers would rather take their own lives than not be together. Even though Romeo and Juliet killed themselves
“When two people really care about each other, they always find a way to make it work. No matter how hard it is.” (Unknown author) In the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, there are a number of people to blame for the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet. The two star-crossed lovers fall in love at first sight, but Juliet a Capulet, and Romeo a Montague are forbidden be together as their families are in a feud.
For rhe most part The blame is both of them of them Romeo and Paris for causing things to go that way. Because Romeo&Juliet have strong love for each other Also Paris like Juliet and he didn't like Romeo he wants her to be with him.According to Act five scene two Romeo killed himself because he thought that his love one Juliet died.Romeo fought Paris an then ending up killing him,Romeo was listening to everything Paris said thus what caused all this to happen.Romeo is the blame for the blame for the deaths.Because Romeo was having problems with Paris they didn't like each other.Stated in Act five scene Two,three Romeo fought Paris an then killed him over Juliet because the things Paris was saying was making him think .Romeo killed himself
Romeo and Juliet. Known as two teenagers who fall in love and die to most people who have or have not read it. Though what if they never died. Instead it was two teenagers fall in love and run away together and they all lived happily ever after like most people love about stories. The happy ending that some have and others wish to have in real life. Well the possibility of them not dying could have been if wished. The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two teen agers Romeo - a Montague - and Juliet - a Capulet - who fall in love at first sight. Montagues and Capulets are enemies and the love between the two is forbidden. I believe that Romeo and Juliet's deaths were Romeo and Juliet’s own faults because they had two or more opportunities or times where Romeo and Juliet could have lived.
It could be argued that Romeo and Juliet were the only people who caused them to die. If they didn’t fall in love and not want to talk to each other due to the fact their families hate each other, their lives wouldn't be gone. That argument is wrong though, because Friars decisions killed Romeo and Juliet. If friar never married them, they wouldn’t be together anymore, because no one else would marry two people from their two families. If Friar wasn’t even in the picture, this story would be so
One of Romeo's flaws was that he acted impulsively. Romeo was infuriated with Tybalt for the death of Mercutio to the point where his judgment was clouded by emotions when he says, "Away to heaven, respective lenity, And fire-eyed fury be my conduct now."(III.I.85-86). Romeo should have had a civilized conversation with Tybalt but instead acted impulsively and killed Tybalt out of rage. If Romeo had just
Romeo did not know she had only taken a potion to induce a death-like state as part of a plan to avoid the arranged marriage between her and Paris. Balthasar, however innocently, relayed inaccurate information which resulted in Romeo's death when Romeo went to Verona, saw a 'dead' Juliet, and killed himself with the poison as he had planned. All of these actions are a result of misinformation. Sometimes we give false information, maybe just a small lie, thinking there will be no consequence, but this poor communication can and will have a consequence. In this case, the worst consequence, the death of the young
Sometimes bad things happen, but we have no one to blame. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The two main characters fall in love and die in tragedy. Romeo and Juliet fall in love, but there is a trouble between their family, so they get into a lot of trouble. Romeo killed Tybalt the best cousin of Juliet, so he got banned. Friar Laurence tries to help Juliet to get away from her married to Paris. Romeo and Juliet die at the end.
At this moment, Friar Lawrence should know that marrying Romeo and Juliet wasn’t a good idea. “Be off and comfort her. But mind you don’t stay still the night guards start their shift! Then, you couldn’t leave for Mantua, where you shall live till the time is right for us to make your marriage public… (167)”, Friar tells Romeo. As a priest and an adult, Friar should try to intervene between Romeo and Juliet’s marriage; he knows that Romeo is a menace to society, and that Romeo and Juliet would do everything for their “love”. But, instead of trying to stop Romeo from doing something worse, Friar is supporting him after Romeo killed Tybalt; consequently, Romeo is now able to do worse things. Additionally, Friar helps Juliet to get away from the marriage that her father organized between Paris and her. “Go home, be cheerful, and say you’ll marry Paris… When you’re in bed, take this small bottle and swallow this distilled liquid… When the bridegroom comes in the morning to get you up, there you are-dead. (197)”, Friar tells Juliet. This results in the Capulets thinking that their daughter is dead, even though she isn’t. Because of the help that Friar is providing to Juliet, Romeo now thinks that Juliet is dead; Friar didn’t think about the consequences of the letter not getting in time to Romeo; therefore, Romeo is going back to Verona-where he shouldn’t be, and could get killed because of
One of the individuals who is at fault for the death of both Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence. Due to his own particular obliviousness, everybody imagines that Juliet is dead. Had Friar Lawrence not given Juliet the poison she would never have been placed in such a sensitive situation, which lead her to her death. Friar Lawrence second enormous slip up was giving Friar John a letter carrying important life or death information to send Romeo. Due to bad timing, this letter had not been delivered which was one of the reasons as to why Romeo and Juliet took their own lives. The failure of delivering the letter is shown through this specific quote which Friar John mentions,
Romeo arrives at the tomb and kills himself, only for Juliet to wake up minutes later. Friar Laurence and Balthasar rush in to whisk the lovers to a safer location. Juliet refuses to leave with them, and Friar Laurence and Balthasar are forced to leave after they hear shouting nearby. Distraught, Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s dagger. Romeo says, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight” (5.1.37). However, none of this is Romeo’s fault because Friar Laurence failed take responsibility and send the letter to Romeo himself or at the very least send Balthasar. As a result, Romeo was acting based on what he thought the situation was. Romeo believes the only way he can reunite with Juliet is in heaven. There are always two sides to a situation, and one should wait before acting. In this case, Friar Laurence’s irresponsibility and impulsiveness failed the
