The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Who would be to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths? Many people have different views about who is to blame for their deaths. I believe that Romeo,Juliet, and Friar Laurence fault. I will begin by telling you why I believe that. Friar Laurence had a big role to play in Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. First off he was the one to marry them. Knowing that Romeo was a Montague and Juliet a Capulet. He knew that it was gonna be hard and very “illegal” to do so. Yet he still felt for Romeo and did as he asked. (PG.840-841) Juliet had to do with Romeo’s death as well. Romeo killed Tybalt which cause him to be banished forever. So in that case they could not see each other and , Juliet was unhappy. So she went to Friar
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story about star-crossed lovers who lost their lives due to sorrow and grief. Writers and readers all around argue about who was at fault for the death of these two young characters. Mercutio, who was the one who convinces Romeo to go to the ball in the first place, could be blamed as well. And when Mercutio was murdered by Tybalt, Romeo killed him out of anger, which led to the separation of the two lovers. There are multiple people we could pin for their deaths, even their parents because of their huge family feud. I think the three people to be blamed are the nurse, Friar Laurence, and our very own star-crossed lovers.
Even though numerous characters in the play contributed to the death of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence’s irresponsibility and lack of recognition makes him most to blame. To begin, Romeo proposes the idea about marring Juliet, a member of the Capulet Family by telling Friar Laurence “Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set on the fair daughter of rich Capulet (2.3.57-58). Romeo has completely forgotten about Rosaline, and now has focused his love onto Juliet. The Friar agrees with Romeo. Friar Laurence's decision is irresponsible because he agrees with the idea of members of opposite noble families being married. By marrying Romeo and Juliet, Friar is acting like Lord
Friar Laurence’s character flaws greatly impacted the end result of the play. The Friar should be punished for his poorly made decisions throughout Shakespeare’s story. His first mistake was when he initially helped Romeo and Juliet with the aid of the Nurse. Both Romeo and Juliet are children and their parents should be included in every decision made for them. The Friar married Romeo and Juliet in Act 3 of the play. “Till Holy Church incorporate two in one” (3.1.37) The marriage was the start of many issues. Such as Juliet’s inability to wed Paris, being a married lady. This led to Friar’s next choice of giving Juliet the sleeping potion—making her appear dead. “Take this vial, being then in bed,” (4.1.93) Giving Juliet the poison was the reason why so many characters had died in the end of Act 5 of the play. Paris had died fighting Romeo because he thought he was attempting to steal Juliet’s “dead” body. Romeo, ignorant of the fact that Juliet was not dead, killed himself. Juliet committed suicide because of her fiancé lying next to her lifeless. The poison given by Friar
The most to blame for their deaths is the Capulets, Friar Laurence, Romeo and Juliet. Paris wanted to marry Juliet and Capulet decided to arrange the marriage. However, Juliet does not want to marry Paris. She would do anything to not marry Paris. Lady Capulet wanted Romeo to be killed instead of being banished for killing Tybalt. The Capulets had a big feud with the Montagues, Romeo's parents. Friar Laurence has been helping Romeo a lot during the story, however he could have got in trouble and be punished for bringing Romeo and Juliet together.
Who is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Throughout the story, there are many people to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence, Capulets, Montagues, and Peter are the ones that are constantly blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet. There are so many people to blame for the actions of Romeo and Juliet, but Romeo and Juliet are also responsible for their own actions.
Who is also responsible of Romeo and Juliet’s death was Romeo. Romeo is responsible because he was so careless. He was not aware of what was right before his eyes, not only the obvious piece of paper just lying on the floor, but also the trouble of falling “in love” with a Capulet. Romeo was also too many times blinded be grief, anger and love making him act without thinking. Killing Tybalt, drinking the venom and even marring Juliet. Romeo should have been more careful and should have taking everything one day at a
There are many characters that could be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, mainly including their parents and the feud between their families. The nurse, who was Juliet’s most close and trusted friend, would deliver letters to Romeo and helped arrange Romeo and Juliet’s marriage. In Act 3; Scene 5, after Romeo was banished for killing Tybalt and avenging Mercutio’s murder, the nurse completely disregarded their marriage and proposed to Juliet that she should instead marry someone she is not in love with, the rich and noble Paris. The nurse later says that Romeo is a mere “dishclout” or dishcloth compared to the noble Paris.
Friar Laurence is the one to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet’s. He is the one to blame because he gave Juliet a fake potion which made her pass out for a couple of hours and he didn’t let Romeo know. According to the Friar Laurence, “Unhappy fortune! By my brotherhood, the letter was not just a nice greeting. It was full of very important information. It’s very dangerous that it hasn’t been sent. Friar john, go and get me an iron crowbar. Bring it straight back to my cell (act 5, scene 2)”. Therefore, Friar Laurence had something to do with Romeo and Juliet death.
In my opinion, the deaths were in fault of Friar Laurence, “The Family Feud,” and also the decisions of Romeo and Juliet themselves. To start off, I believe that Friar Laurence is to blame because of the things that
Friar Laurence agrees to help Romeo because the Friar believed that by getting Romeo and Juliet married it will finally end the feud between the two families. Friar Laurence’s need to help end one problem, results in him creating another problem, which is Juliet’s parents are unaware of the marriage and because they do not know they want Juliet to marry Paris.
Friar Laurence was a father figure to both Romeo and Juliet. They would go to him for advice, and he gave them the advice that would eventually cost them their lives. First and foremost, the Friar made the plan to fake Juliet’s death. Juliet receives the news from her father that she is to be married to the County Paris, which
Losing a close friend is always a very hard process. For me throughout this year losing my closest friend was very hard. Even though there is blame on both people since friendships require effort from both people, I understand Romeo’s rage and need for vengeance after losing Mercutio. Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare and is a story about forbidden love set in Verona, Italy in the 1500’s. Romeo falls in love with Juliet and marries her, and they’re very happy together until it’s all ruined over their families feud. Lives were taken and hearts were broken, leading to a tragic ending where the two lovers would rather take their own lives than not be together. Even though Romeo and Juliet killed themselves
Romeo should be blamed for his and Juliet’s death because he was impulsive and didn’t think before he acted. This is represented in the play in various forms. For instance, “Can I go forward when my heart is here? Turn back, dull earth, and find thy centre out.” (Rom. 2.1.1-2). This exemplifies that Romeo carelessly and impulsively leapt over the Capulet wall to go meet Juliet at night. He did not think of the dangers his actions could possess, but rather if he would be with Juliet. Another example of Romeo’s thoughtless behavior was when Romeo fought with Tybalt. “Either thou or I, or both, must go with him,” (Rom. 3.1.130). This shows that Romeo was ready to kill Tybalt or die doing it himself just to avenge
All throughout Romeo and Juliet Friar Laurence offered console and advice to our two young protagonists in their times of need. His words and actions held great power over the result of their tragic love story. From marrying Romeo and Juliet, to concocting a “death” potion, and fleeing from the Capulet family tombs, Friar Laurence had great sway in what occurred.
