I believe that Romeo is responsible for the death of Juliet and himself. I believe this because most of his actions lead to this outcome, such as slaying Tybalt and not making his relationship with Juliet public. Romeo slaying Tybalt contributed to the outcome because by killing him he was banished from Verona. Since he got exiled Juliet was depressed, and decided that it would be easier if she took a sleeping potion. By doing this everyone concluded that she died and Romeo was informed. By hearing this Romeo had lost hope and felt that there was nothing left as he had just "lost" his wife to death. He then presumed to go to the tomb in which she was buried and went to the apothecary to buy poison to kill himself because Juliet had died. "Here's to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die" (1043). This quote gives evidence that Romeo killed himself because he lost his wife and his death was to only be with her. Following his death, Juliet wakes only a few minutes after his death only to see Romeo lying on the ground dead. "What's here? A cup, closed in my true love's hand? Poison, I see, …show more content…
-- O churl, drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang on them. To make me die with restorative. (kisses ROMEO)" (1045). This quote shows that Romeo's death motivated
Romeo makes hasty decisions that end up harming him and the people he loves. In scene three of act five, Romeo drinks the poison to end his life as he proclaims, “Here’s to my love! O true apothecary, Thy
Romeo also played a part in his death, as did Juliet in hers. Obviously it was them who each made the final decision to poison and stab themselves, but there were other things that they did to make the situation worse. They decided that they were in
Friar Lawrence is the reason why Romeo and Juliet died. “Take thou this vial, being in bed and this distilled liquor drink thou off.” This quote shows that Friar Lawrence gives Juliet the potion to kill herself. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion to kill herself. When Romeo saw Juliet faking her death he assumed that she was dead so he killed himself.
Did you ever wonder what was the main reason for the deaths in Romeo & Juliet. This play is about Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare. The story started off with two families fuding. Romeo, one of the main characters, in love with another woman. He was later rejected by her, and then turned into a state of depression. His friend, Mercutio, decided that he should go to a party to get over the rejection. When Romeo arrived he looked for Rosaline, instead he found Juliet. Him and Juliet fell in love the same night, later they decided to get married. The next day they married, and Romeo went home to get ready to celebrate. On his way home Mercutio and Tybalt got into a fight causing Mercutio to die. Romeo killed Tybalt, then got banished. Juliet
As the story of Romeo and Juliet further progresses, Romeo’s true character becomes more and more apparent; he seems to act solely by impulse. Romeo acts moreso with his emotions, and sudden thoughts than his brain which stores reason and logic. This causes for tragedy and unfortunate circumstance by the end of the poem. This shows how impulsive he is in most of his decisions and how he tends to be very dramatic in everything that he does. When Romeo discovers that Juliet is dead, he almost immediately dramatically decides to drink poison, to kill himself. “Here’s to love, O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick - thus with a kiss I die.” Which shows how quickly he makes wrash and dramatic decisions without thinking it through. If Romeo had not been so careless and impulsive in his decision, Juliet would have awoken and they would both still be alive.
Romeo and Juliet is known as one of the most popular love stories ever written. However, the play is not about love, but about death. William Shakespeare wrote this play to warn readers about the danger of hatred and impulsive actions. Romeo’s love for Juliet and his impulsive nature contributed to the deaths of Tybalt, Mercutio, Juliet, Paris, Lady Montague , and Romeo himself.
“Thus, with a kiss I die” In the play Romeo And Juliet by William Shakespeare readers can picture the romantic and tragic death of the two star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. The two are to blame for their own demise and others such as (Tybalt, Lady Montague, Paris, Mercutio). Capulet/Friar Lawrence and Tybalt are also to blame for the death of the two lovers.
Romeo’s overly emotional personality and his obsession with love override his rational thought, which causes the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. After hearing of what is thought to be the death of Juliet, Romeo decides that he cannot live without his true love. In despair, he says, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight./Let’s see for means. O mischief, thou art swift/To enter in the thoughts of desperate man” (V.i 37-39). Romeo then buys
That had caused great sadness for Juliet. Her father thought that it would be beneficial if she were to be married, to Paris. Juliet did not like that idea, so she had Friar Laurence create a potion that would cause her to look deceased and go into a deep sleep for forty-two hours. “O, look! Methinks I see my cousin's ghost seeking out Romeo that did spit his body upon a rapier's point: stay, Tybalt, stay! Romeo, I come! This do I drink to thee” (iv.iii.54-57). After a few days, Romeo had learned about Juliet’s, so called, death. He immediately went to the apothecary’s house to buy a fatal poison. “Come hither, man. I see that thou art poor: Hold, there is forty ducats: let me have a dram of poison, such soon-speeding gear as will disperse itself through all the veins That the life-weary taker may fall dead and that the trunk may be discharged of breath as violently as hasty powder fired” (v.i.58-64). The apothecary gave Romeo the potion, a potion that Romeo had later found was very strong. The potion that Romeo had bought had killed him almost instantly. When Juliet had woken up from her deep sleep, and she found Romeo on the ground in her tomb. Juliet was immediately hit with a wave of depression. Juliet took the only course of action that she thought was appropriate, stabbing herself with a dagger. That is two suicides in one day caused by
“Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off. When presently through all thy veins shall run a cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse shall keep his native progress, but surcease.” ( ,). This did not go as planned Romeo never got the letter explaining what was going on as far as he knew Juliet was dead. Romeo had went to get some poison opposed from not having Juliet in his life he had rather die with her so that they could be together at peace finally. Seconds before Juliet had awaken the poison was already upon his lips,he had began to take his last breath.Spending their last moments alive together Juliet had decided to take her life as well. If it weren’t for the feud Romeo and Juliet would be able to live together happily instead their life had to end so that they could be together. Their forbidden love because of the feud caused the death of the two lovers. They wanted to be together but the two families morals got in the way of that. Romeo and Juliet came from two different families who things from very different perspectives Romeo could do things that Juliet’s parents had
She takes his dagger, saying that her body will become its resting place before stabbing herself and falling dead on Romeo’s body. If Romeo hadn’t bought or drank the poison, Juliet wouldn’t have stabbed herself with his dagger; and they both might’ve been able to run away
Forgive me, cousin.—Ah, dear Juliet, Here’s to my love! (drinks the poison) O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” The meaning of this part can be taken as, “If Juliet dies, then I shall die too; to be with her.”
Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a romantic tragedy and is known for its gruesome deaths throughout the story , the focal death , Juliet's death , is arguably the most memorable. Pin pointing whom may have caused this death is undeniably hard , but one may say that the person to be responsible is none other than Juliet herself. Elaborating on that , yes many can argue that her father is too blind sided to see that she she does not want to marry Paris , and her mother is not part of her life which has led to resentment , or the fact that thinking Romeo was dead may have lead to her death , but these are the things that happened around her , nobody forced her to kill herself , and she looked at the unfortunate events that has
This quotation shows that Juliet would do anything even faking her death, while at the risk of actually dying, just to be with Romeo
