Capulet arranges for Paris to marry his already married daughter and causes Juliet to take desperate measures as he wrongly threatens to end his relationship with her if she decides to disobey. Lady Capulet led the two to their deaths as she pressures Juliet in marrying Paris whom she doesn’t love and when she turns her back on Juliet at a desperate time like a bad mother because Juliet opposes the idea of the marriage. Lady Capulet also expresses her hatred and death wishes upon Romeo, emphasizing the need for secrecy in their relationship, and prohibiting Juliet to be with Romeo. Lord Capulet’s firm and merciless control can also be blamed for pushing his daughter to the extreme and ultimately her untimely death. He warns her that she may “graze where [she] will, [she] will not house with [him]… for, by [his] soul, [he] will ne’er acknowledge [her]” (III v 200-205). These threats instill fear in Juliet, and in her despair, she seeks the advice of Friar Lawrence who gives her a potion that will make it appear as if she is dead the morning of the wedding. Lord Capulet can be blamed for his stubbornness and insensitivity despite his daughter’s sincere requests not to marry Paris.
