Have you ever wanted to help someone that was hurt or unable to heal on their own? Have you ever felt the need to assist in saving someone's life? That’s what I would love to accomplish when I grow up and I believe that cardiology would be the best fit for me! Cardiology has always been a part of me in certain ways. When I was younger, I would always say that I would wish to be a cop or a soldier within the army, but then again what eight-year-old boy didn’t say that. As I began to grow physically and mentally, my view of the world became much more transparent, and I began to lean towards the profession of cardiology. From there, leaning lead to believing, and that’s where I currently stand, for I strongly believe that cardiology is the finest …show more content…
In addition to the circumstances that I had, there are other reasonings as to why cardiology intrigues me. My second reason as to why I would like to become a cardiologist is the fact that I would be able to lend a hand to people and charities. If that doesn’t appeal to your brain, then let me break it down for you. If I were to become a cardiologist, then I would help save lives, but I would also acquire a high salary. The average salary of a well-worked and well-payed cardiologist would be around the sum of 300 thousand dollars! With such a massive source of income, I could relinquish my profits within charities with the greatest needs. That way, I could help multitudes of people in need. Needless to say, due to the immense income I would be receiving, I would be able to do more than just donate to charities and work in a hospital for I would be able to set up free clinics and put my time and effort into important causes. That way I can be satisfied whilst at work and in free time with the effort I would put in. That is just one other reason as to why I feel that cardiology would be the pathway into a
My interest in medicine first stemmed from my freshman Biology class and my Nutrition class. I was intrigued by our studies of cells, genetics, and disease. Both courses incited a sense of awe and curiosity within me. Dissecting a frog, was the stepping-stone for my interest in medicine. Seeing the frog's heart made me wonder how the human heart worked. My research into the human heart inspired me to learn more about the medical field. I sought out volunteer opportunities that would give me insight into a doctor’s typical day. During my volunteer experience, I learned that as a doctor you experience many obstacles, including patient compliance and insurance approval issues. In my journey to pursue medicine, I learned that becoming a doctor means more than helping people, it means being the team leader, being compassionate, and most importantly being committed to the patient’s well being.
The medical field is a career path that brings about many options and opportunities of great value. The noble idea of being a doctor tends to cloud the diligent studying and precise training that is actually required for this career. I have wanted to become a doctor since a very young age, and now that the opportunity is here for the taking, I have fully researched what it takes to succeed in this profession and various specialties of the practice. The road to a medical degree is one filled with thousands of notes, years of schooling, and many stressful nights, but the reward is one incomparable to any other. Saving people’s lives on a day-to-day basis has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember, so the rigorous curriculum
Biology has always intrigued me; that is why I took advanced biology courses every year during high school. I chose cardiology in particular for medical school because cardiac diseases run in both sides of my family. I have seen my grandmothers get pushed into the emergency rooms and I thought they were not going
Growing up I seen my mom, aunts, uncles and grandfather struggle with the death of my grandmother. Everyday there was a new struggle whether it was getting up to go to work or eat. My grandmother died of breast cancer at the age of fifty two, it devastated my family. The question asked “Is why do I want to go into the medical field?” I want to go into the medical field because I want to be able to make a difference in this world. I want to do research to cure chronic diseases, I want to be able to tell a family that everything will be alright, and I want to be able to save a family the devastation that my family felt.

After reading this article, this is definitely something I could consider as a future profession if I don't want to attend medical
The experience I gained at the cardiology clinic and the hours shadowing at the Methodist Hospital emergency room are a pillar for the career of my choice. I want to be able to help those in need in my local community hospital. I feel the urge to give a hand to those that have guided me through the right path, from teaching me right from wrong to encouraging me to strive to be the best in life. At the Methodist hospital, I learned how to obtain patient’s medical history and entered data into Cerner, and I obtained consent from patients before procedures such as diagnostic imaging and casting. I observed physical examinations being performed by the physician assistant and it taught me that it is necessary to have knowledge to be able to diagnose and treat conditions and that interpersonal skills are essential for this career. Currently, I work for the department of health where I triage and register patients, assist physicians and nurse practitioner in the examination of patients, and assist with maintenance of inventory supplies and
Over the last month for three times a week, I shadowed a cardiologist, Dr. Jain. I will say that I don’t know whether or not cardiology is the direction for me, especially since another 20 specialties plus subspecialties are out there to explore, but it is a practice worth shadowing for several reasons. Perhaps the most important reason is the simple fact that it concerns one of the most important organs of the body: the heart. Cardiologists are medical doctors who have specialized knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of health disorders relating to the cardiovascular system. A cardiologist does not only diagnose and treat disease, but will work in the area of prevention help reduce the risks of conditions such as heart disease.
Samuel Hahnemann once said “The physician's highest calling, his only calling, is to make sick people healthy to heal, as it is termed.” Over multiple years of being posed the question “What do you want to be when you grow up? I have come to the conclusion that I want to become a physician or at least I think I do. Who wouldn’t want to help save lives? As a physician, I am presented with the opportunity to help better communities all around the world for the rest of my life. I always wanted to try to make a difference that people would appreciate. As I researched this profession, I discovered that because of physicians and their ability to use medical science, the life expectancy in the United States has more than doubled between 1990-2013
The career I have chosen to pursue in the future is a surgeon. A surgeon is a physician who performs surgical operations. They are who cut the human body for the purpose of removing diseased tissue or organs, to repair body systems, or to replace diseased organs with transplants. Surgeons may be physicians, dentists, podiatrists, and veterinarians. Surgeons can be general surgeons and perform all types of surgery, or they can be specialized, such as heart surgeons or brain surgeons. I plan to specialize in heart surgery or as its also known cardiothoracic surgeon. A cardiothoracic surgeon is a medical doctor who specializes in surgical procedures of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest. This includes surgeons who can be called cardiac surgeons, cardiovascular surgeons, general thoracic surgeons, and congenital heart surgeons.
Ventricular Tachycardia. It is strange to think that somebody 21 years old could get such a complicated sounding disease. Initially I felt confused and a bit doubtful. I asked the doctor over and over again to make sure it was the correct diagnosis. Eventually I came to accept the fact that I have Ventricular Tachycardia. Eventually, I was able to see that having this disease didn’t have to be such a negative thing; that it could help me on my path. I went back to volunteering and shadowing with a new understanding. I was finally able to feel what the patients were going through, because I had gone through something similar. The confusion, fear, doubt, anger. I finally felt like I had the capacity to show empathy and understanding to patients and that medical school would help me to advance this ability
I further supported my studies in biology and my interest of assisting the needy by volunteering at my hometown’s emergency room. While I did find that working at the emergency room constantly catered to my passion for knowledge about medicine, it was my trustworthy and compassionate nature that allowed me a heightened ability to interact with patients in a reliable and effective manner. I continued my desire by shadowing physicians in the many different departments of the hospital. However, since the marvels of the heart always left me in wonder, I found myself drawn into the life of a cardiologist. While shadowing him in his private practice, I had the chance to appreciate the responsibilities, commitment, and satisfaction of a career in
In the future, I am striving to become a Physician's Assistant in cardiology or neurology for neonatal/pediatric care. I want to first become an RN and have a background in nursing. I’ve wanted to be in the medical field since 8th grade. It is a lot work as I am a CNA and worked in a nursing home. I can’t wait until I am working with patients watching them grow and get better. I’ve always been interesting in the heart. It is an interesting muscle that we know is there, but don’t think too much about. I also want to get married and have children who I can love and care
Although there were times he truly didn’t know where to start, he believed deep down that in the long run he could master most of the challenges and create a bigger, busier, and more rewarding practice for everyone at Cardiology Associates. (Groysberg, Kaftan, & McCalla, 2007, p. 10).
Guarneri transitioned she learned to listen, be compassionate, and to empathize. The key to healing is caring, Patient recognizes and responds when they feel cared for by their practitioner. Therefore, knowing Dr. Guarneri develop and current practices, as a nurse, it would be a great honor to work side by side with her. I have a great reverence for the heart; it holds life and death. This small organ is physical complex in nature but being aware of how our spirit, and emotions affect this internal organ; one must respect it uniqueness. Therefore, as I ponder, the list mentioned above are reasons to pursue a career in cardiac and not because it’s profitable (as Dr. Guarneri once insinuated). Dr. Guarneri’s love for her responsible for caring for individuals hearts showed in her writing. Early in her training, she describes the heart as a simple mechanical pump; devaluing the significance of its intricate complexity. Some examples of mechanical pumps are sump pumps and fuel pumps; these are no comparison to the heart. As she begins to develop she describe the heart as a flower opening one exquisite layer at a time. The heart was referred to as a woman, an unexpected bundle of a miracle, and she showed the heart feels. She equaled this organ to poetry, intelligence and the spirit of a man. As the doctor, progressed she long to have an open heart and referred to the as a timid tick deep in a mother's womb; word play on our lifespan is likened
Being that my mother has attended medical school several times, I first handedly have seen how difficult it can be. I have been told by many people to pick a different profession because of that; But because of how passionate I am about cardiology and the amount of times I have experienced people deal with heart problems has assured me that I have chose the right profession. I being a very conscientious person has has also assured me that I will be able to tackle medical school and become a cardiologist. I believe that the first steps of becoming a cardiologist is that I have personally experienced people suffer from
