Attending college for the first time is an important, rewarding decision that I made for a good reason. I learned a lot about myself that will help me in my future. Setting goals, having expectations, and reflecting why I am in college is incredible to think about.

A significant conflict I have encountered within my mere seventeen years of life is a presumably common one, obtaining an adequate score on my ACT. I realize this conflict seems to affect many students attempting to attend college as I am, but the lengthy process which led me to challenge the ACT has actually impacted me in, I would believe, a positive way. Now the reason I decided to undertake this daunting task was actually due to the fact that I did not score high enough on my SAT, or rather not nearly as high as I desired. Going to college is a big jump in the life of anyone who decides to enroll and not everyone who attends has the same expectations. I would construe the colleges as the practice of learning process about how to be part of the society. It is a challenging, but the college could absolutely be built upon on how you do, and how you like it. However, this does not mean the college is necessary to step into the association. Attending college in Montana is important to me for a variety of reasons. I have many friends and family that are attending colleges all over Montana and I would like to stay close to them! I also have a lineage in Montana going back generations on both sides, so it would be very meaningful to me to stay in my home state. I am 25 years going on 26 years old and I thought college was not for me, when I got out of high school. As I grew older I started to realize that I was not satisfied I wanted something else, I couldn’t do things I liked because I was living pay check to paycheck always stressing about not paying bills on time. My parents have always told me to go to college, get a good job, make money, and do great things. What they did not tell me is much they were struggling to keep food on the table, how the long hours they worked left them exhausted or how difficult it was for them to tell us no to a new toy, so we could keep our house. There are many reasons as to why college education is important to me. One of them is my motivation to continue my knowledge for my career at Nebraska Furniture Mart as the Loss Prevention Manager. I can put the reasons why I think a college education is important to me in three categories, myself, my family and my career. Once I acquire the skills and knowledge, it will enhance my self-esteem. Earning a degree in my field will give the opportunity to give my children a better future. I will use the credentials and degree to open my own business. Earning my degree will give me the empowerment in knowing that I strived and accomplished something difficult and incredible.

Why is a college education important to me? I have always wanted to attend college to earn my degree in accounting. After I graduated high school I went to college, but I didn’t major in accounting. I went to college for education, then I switched my major to psychology, then switched it again to liberal arts so I could learn Spanish. After two years of college, I decided to take a break from it. A few years later, I took a tax course, completed the course, then hired as a Tax Preparer. I personally believe a college education is important since I would become an accountant to enhance my clientele, it is a new experience, and having a college education means I will earn more money in the future.
