Why can't teens wait? The world is overpopulated with all types of people from many different backgrounds and origins but the contributing factor in the growth of the American population is the increase in teen pregnancies. In the United States, over 900,000 teenage girls are impregnated, and many of them become parents before marriage. The US contributes to most of the earth's increase in population. Teen parents do not comprehend the difficulties in raising a child as a youth and on a fixed income. This unfortunate reality creates a serious issue in America, due to the fact that the population is not only rising, but also being filled with so many inexperienced parents that are not ready for the challenges of parenthood.

Endersbe, “Almost 500,000 babies are born to teen mothers each year.”(Endersbe,1) but many teen parents do not plan for a child or even consider wanting one. There are more girls getting pregnant now than there was 20 years ago and most schools in the US have a course that can inform them on the precautions in having sex at a young age and that teen pregnancy is something that they can prevent. These courses or programs teach young adults to be safe and hold off on sex. However, schools are enforcing the use of contraceptives if teens do choose to engage in sex. Because Americans encourage safe sex they want to teach young minds to be safe and use protection. With the knowledge that teens developed about safe sex, there are now “78% of teens using contraceptives during sexuual intercourse.” (Endersbe, 6) which is a good …show more content…

The popular phrase “first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage” was considered to be the numerical order in which a person must live their life but fast forward into the 21st century there has been an increase in pregnancies before marriage. Within the community of young parents “most teen mothers do not get married, in fact 76% of teen mothers have their child outside of marriage”(Endersbe, 48) which is a good thing if you consider that teenagers have yet to live out their life to its full potential and being married in your teens is putting a barrier on the road
