Why I Chose Forensic Science

The main reason for transferring is the change of major. I would choose Forensic Science as my major because I am the person who like to make observation and ask questions, and was greatly influenced by popular criminal justice television shows. Although Forensic Science courses are interesting, I found out that Psychology is a field that attracts me more. Before applying to colleges, I was always interested in Psychology and Arts. I leaned toward the Psychology field of Forensic Science, when I chose it as my major. I took a Psychology class which was my favorite class in high school. I was amazed by the psychological experiments that my teachers show me. He also showed us that how psychology apply in our daily lives, and how our minds affect our behaviors and vice versa. We often used psychological perspectives to analyze the characters’ personalities and mental disorders in movies, for example the Winnie the Pooh movie. I often got sick and because of that I often missed school for weeks. Once I had a high fever and was hospitalized, I missed the first two weeks of school. When I went back to school, everyone already had their own friend. I was unable to make friends and to catch up with the schoolwork. Since I am the person who reserved problems to myself and had no friends to talk with, the negative thoughts occupied me. I started not wanting to go schools, and my body reacted to that and became ill. My teacher noticed the problem and tried to talk with me; however, I wasn’t able to put my thoughts in words. Miss Yip, the counselling and art teacher, asked me to draw them out. She talked with me while I was drawing. She understood my problem step by step, gave me advices, and brought me out of the cloud. I am really thankful that I had such a teacher and want to become a counselor using arts solve others’
