I feel that I should be granted this scholarship for multiple reasons. All of which lead back to my success as a person. I enjoy learning, I take pride in what I have, I don’t take anything for granted, and I always try my best. Receiving this scholarship would be the equivalent to a driven student who is determined to see results and succeed. I feel that I should be granted the scholarship for financial reasons, and those reasons reflect onto other reasons why I would be a good candidate for the scholarship. I attend Michigan State University, I am in the Spartan Marching Band, I do intramural sports, and I have a job on campus when I don’t have extracurriculars. I’m doing all of these things with a major in mechanical engineering, a concentration in biomedical, and a minor in computer science. To top it all off, I will be paying for all of this myself. My parents do whatever they can to help my siblings and me through college, and I am very thankful for that, but they don’t have the money to help me. I also have two siblings who are in college as well so they wouldn’t be able to afford it anyway. My entire year is not covered either, so in order to pay for my books, classes, room, and board, I’m willing to do anything so …show more content…
Getting through college is very important to me because not only do I want to see myself succeed and be happy in whatever I do, but also because it will make me part of the first generation of my entire extended family to graduate from college. This combined with my outgoing, driven attitude make me a good candidate to receive the scholarship. In fact, I’m already beginning to see the results of my efforts because I had an internship by the end of my freshman year, which is very uncommon at MSU. I am getting a very high quality education at MSU, and to give that up because I can’t afford it would be devastating given the fact that I thrive as a student, a worker, and a person while I’m in
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because of my effort in my past twelve years. There have been many times where I wanted to give up on school, but my motivation arose from my parents and their struggle to keep my sister and me in school. Being from Guatemala, their goal was for me to get my education, and if I didn’t try I would be letting the opportunities slip through my hands. Throughout my four years of high school I’ve had sleepless nights, about 100 cups of coffee, endless alarm clocks, and stressful test days to get myself where I am now. I am twelve out of the one thousand and ninety-nine seniors; my GPA is a four point five. In the end it was all my effort. Without me pushing myself, I wouldn’t have been here awaiting
As a college student, becoming financially stable is very difficult, but I do not like to worry about money. Like I said earlier, I do work a part time so that does help, but not worrying about paying for school would help tremendously. My goal is to graduate college debt free, and receiving this scholarship will help me complete my goal. I would also like to receive this scholarship to represent Cossatot academically. The value of education has always been important to me, so I will do my best to make the best grades of which I am capable. I will try my hardest with or without the scholarship, but with it I would be able to focus more time on my studies and less time trying to find a way to pay for my school expenses.
Apart from my financial need, I believe I deserve this scholarship as I am very determined. Determined to not only continue my education and pursue my dream but to do so with as little debt. This past year, I have been
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I have a stable mentality that education will reward you, I am driven, motivated, and reliable. I always follow through with my homework and I know how to push through the roughest times. Last year I became suddenly chronically ill, and I pushed and pushed because there are bigger things that I need to strive for. I can't wreck myself because my life has taken a different route, it's all about improvising. My academic goals are to attend a university and become a Primary Care Physician this is important to me because I wanna be the doctor that helps instead of sending them away to live in pain. My contributions to the school haven't been great but I've done what I can. In the fall
College is becoming more and more expensive as time goes on. This causes many students to heavily rely on the help of scholarships. I am one of those students. My parents are unable to help me pay for my college education. I have worked during the summer to help pay for some of the costs of my education and will find a job near my university to pay for as much as possible. In order to get out of college with as little debt as possible, I need to receive as many scholarships as I can. I have been a very active member in the community and in school activities. I have always given all of my effort for everything I do. I believe that over the years, I have made a worthy contribution to the community. I have always been a hard worker and I will
Currently I live with my family so that I can save as much as possible to afford my college tuition. My brothers are autistic and so my family can’t afford to pay for my college tuition since all their funds are spent on my brothers’ treatments and care. I won a scholarship for 2014-2015 from the superintendent during high school. My tuition costs at Collin college are between $1300-$1400 a semester. During the first year at Collin college I was not employed because I wanted to focus on my studies but now I’m running out of funds and I have started looking for a job to cover for my tuitions bills. I need this scholarship so that I would not overwhelm myself in my job and neglect my studies. I want to stay in a good academic standing and I’m
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I've done so much for my school but have gone unnoticed for it all. I never expect to get praise when I do something for my school, nevertheless, I've always given my all for any task put in front of me. I have always tried my best in every class and have never failed a single one in high school. Every time I was given the opportunity to lead something in a class, I took on the challenge. Lastly, I always think about the students. I want to give back to the students and future students of my school; even if I don't make a lasting impression on anyone I want to create new opportunity and set an example for the people who think they cant make a difference at school. I put myself out
Thus, I believe I deserve this scholarship because with all the attributes, discipline and commitment, I have the potential to succeed and make a contribution to the world.
There are thousands of high school seniors that plan to attend post-secondary education after graduating. Most of those students are not financially stable to get through school, so they apply for scholarships. Scholarships are the ultimate goal of any student gain, this is less money taken out of pocket or less money needed to borrow loans. Attending college has always been a goal of mine. The idea of being able to meet different types of people and learn new concepts in such a unique place, allowing for me to grow and identify myself excites me. However, money gets in they way of that and with millions of scholarships in the world, it would not take anything for me to apply. This scholarship will benefit me by helping to pay for my education,
There are times in life that you must pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and continue on the beaten path. I have had to do this countless times and in some instances, I thought it would be my last. On the surface, I’m applying for this scholarship with the intention of using it to help pay my college tuition. To a much deeper extent, obtaining this scholarship would aid in my redemption as a student and consequently validate the choice to continue my education. Academically speaking, I was born with the talent to stand toe-to-toe with the best and the brightest. I participated in numerous academic decathlons, competitions, and was a member of different academic honor societies. School was easy for me, but later in life I found out
Coming from a poor family, money has always been sacred. My father lost his job due to a disability and my mother stays at home taking care of my autistic brother. I work at a part time restaurant three days a week which is not nearly enough for college expenses. In my graduating year of high school, I earned above average grades which helped me to receive enough financial aid to attend a higher end college such as Indiana University of Bloomington. I am the only one in my immediate family to attend college so this past year has been a blessing. However, in order to reach my goals of working in the music industry my family and I alone are not able to supply the funds to follow my dreams. This scholarship will help me advance my learning opportunities
I am a young woman who comes from a single income household. It is my mother who supports my sister and me in college with no help from our father or anyone else in our family. She makes a little less than thirty thousand a year and she is still able to support herself, my down-syndrome brother, my sister, and me. My mom does not work in a prestigious job, but she works hard. My sister and I did have jobs before school began, but our mother wanted us to focus on school. So not only was she paying for two separate colleges, but she was always paying the light, phone, and rent bill all by herself. She had to take on the brunt of the bills. Gaining this scholarship is my way to help lighten her load.
I believe that I should receive this scholarship because I'm a safe investment. The current grade point average I have is somewhere in the 3.3 - 3.4 range at the moment and I have full intentions on raising that as much as I can with my time left in highschool. I have a work ethic that pushes me to go above and beyond what is required of me, failure and backing out of college is not an option for me. I already began learning skills of my future major, computer science, that will help me through college as well as the world out in the workforce as a career.
I feel I should be chosen for this scholarship because it has always been a dream for me, that I hope to make a reality. After graduating college with a four year degree, I have acquired a significant amount of student loan debt. I have been working for the past four years in a career that has left me feeling unhappy and unsatisfied. The only thing that has held me back from pursing my dream of becoming a Cosmetologist is financial reasons. If I were to receive this scholarship it would lift a significant burden off myself and help make my long time dream and reality.
I believe I should be awarded with this scholarship because I'm a person that doesn't give up. I moved to United States 3 years ago, and I domain the language in less of time that a normal person. I'm a hardworking that is ready to fight for the dreams. My dream is to go to University of Nevada, Reno and graduate with a major in education and hep kids that have the same issues that I had when I moved. Not knowing the language, culture, and educational system can be hard for immigrants. Specially when it comes out to interact with others.
