I am not a traditional student applying for a chance to study at your college. I am not here right after graduation from high school nor am I trying to change careers. I am here to begin a career after more than 15 years out of high school, with life experiences in a country that has become my home, half way across the world from where I started my journey.
When I came to the US from Nepal all those years ago, I came with a dream of attending college. However, my personal circumstances did not allow that to happen. When the civil war in Nepal escalated, I was forced to abandon my educational goals and work full time to help my family survive.
I had taken care of my family and everything else that the world threw at me without having taken
From a young age, I’ve always known I wanted to attend college. To pursue what intrigues me and to study what I’m passionate about sounds like an opportunity I just cannot pass up. I have always enjoyed going to school and learning new subjects year after year, each year, giving a deeper understanding of the topics given to me. College would assist in broadening my horizons, finding new experiences, and deepening my roots in education.
Education sits at the core of human existence; without it, we would not be able to accomplish our simplest goals, but with it, the options are limitless. My mother always told me that "education is the best gift you can give someone," which is where the foundation of my pursuit to give all individuals the gift of scholarship sprouted. Growing up as a female in America, I never understood the importance of education until I became aware of an organization known as She's the First (STF), which enables young, uneducated women from different countries to have the same opportunities that we take for granted. Though I am fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to attend exceptional schools throughout my life. Many women in different countries cannot say the same.
After witnessing countless people not graduate from high school, I was convinced as a young woman that I would not attend college. I’ve watched my mother work day and night, and my father work three jobs. As a child of parents who lacked college education, I knew that was going to be me.
I will be attending Fairmont State University in the fall to acquire a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science to expand my knowledge, skills, and opportunities. I want to learn beyond what high school had to offer me and develop new skills to help me find a career. My goal is to have a stable, dependable job. I am certain going to a university will expand my opportunities and career qualifications. Another major reason I want to go to college is because I want to experience cultural diversity and learn more about the world around me. I believe that going to college is the best way for me to achieve my aspirations and fulfill my ambitions.
Growing up without parents and many years of living in boarding school gave me many great
Summer is supposed to be a time of adventure and excitement, however, in the long run, it should be productive. Productive, in the sense that because this is our junior summer, as students we need to be more aware of what lays ahead of us. We need to be prepared for the new and rigorous task of learning the pros and cons of our future careers. For this reason, my summer may consist of two specific goals of both working and researching scholarships as well as colleges. These specific goals would hopefully allow me to pursue a more determined and well-prepared path to my next four years.
My english class is writing a five paragraph essay on is you should go to college or workforce after high school. I strongly agree with both of them, they both have benefits and they can be good or bad for many different reasons. If i have to choose one i'd probably have to choose college. College will help me in the future, and it will prove that even if you grow up with a hard life you don't need to live that way for ever.
Following secondary school, I will attend the University of Notre Dame and major in biological sciences. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to study at this prominent institution, and I’ll make the most of it. College life will be tough, but I’m certainly up for the challenge. There’s myriad people rooting for me and I refuse to let them down.
Here at Palo Alto College, I believe my new journey will begin. After finishing the path of stepping stones that were already laid out for me from elementary to high school, it is my turn to create my own path. I asked myself, "Where is it that I want to go from here?" College was my answer.
What do I do? How do I know I won’t make the wrong decision? What if I hate it…? These questions are asked by every senior in high school contemplating where to attend college next fall. With so many options out there, what’s the right option for you? Big school, small school, liberal arts school, etc. How do I choose? How do you choose… Michigan State University or Central Michigan University, two amazing options, what do I choose.
Prior to attending the University of Washington Bothell, I viewed college as a required transition to adulthood. I understood that four years of my life must be committed to reading textbooks, taking exams, conversing with others, and writing lengthy papers in order to begin to put value on my resume. It is because of this that I started my academic career with the intention of simply finishing, picking up as many good grades as I could along the way. The University of Washington Bothell, however, has altered my understanding of what it means to go to college. College nourishes intellectualism on the basis of creating lifelong learners, researchers, and question-developers. This means that my coursework in interdisciplinary research, writing and communication, critical and creative
I’m attending Dalton State College to increase my potential on my everyday life. I want better job opportunities for me to provide for my family and me. I want to earn more money because those who don’t go to college don't really earn a lot of money than an average college student. I want my knowledge skills to expand so I will make more wise decisions and think critically better. Also I want to really live a better lifestyle than my past. My motivations for coming here are to really make my mother proud. Also from being the first person in my family to go to college had really made my mother proud of me as well as my family.
I have always known I wanted to pursue dance as a career. I do not know if that means opening a dance studio, working professionally or just bettering myself through performing and teaching. All I do know is dance is the best path I know towards the more interesting things life has to offer. I hear a lot of people telling me I will not be able to do it or saying it will be too hard, but that does not deter me. I personally believe at Indiana University, I will be able to thrive. I want to go to college to learn, to meet people, and have an experience I could not get elsewhere. Indiana is that place for me. The sense of community and loyalty I have seen. personally, in Indiana’s alumni astounds me. Indiana has a reputation of being a phenomenal
My determination to graduate and be successful is inevitable, but financially, I need assistance. Day in and day out I strive to be perseverant. No matter if it's in academics, my relationships or hobbies, I'll keep working until I finish what I started. If I want to accomplish something, I don't quit until I'm done, even if it gets challenging. My family’s financial hardships have resulted in me having to work as soon as I was able to. My education and academic success are two of the most important things to me right now. I have traveled a bumpy road to get where I am today, but those obstacles gave me strength and helped me appreciate the truly important things in life.
