"Becoming a detective starts by first becoming a police officer and serving in a conventional patrol capacity. It is during the training, probationary, and patrol periods that police officers gain an understanding and appreciation for the criminal process, the criminal justice system, and the role of the law enforcement community"(“Steps to Becoming a Detective in Criminal Investigations”). The beginning of a criminal justice career must begin with police training. This is where individuals learn more about the system and how serious crimes are. The career I chose was a Canine Police Officer. I chose to be a Canine Police Officer because I could help the community be a better and safer place. After some Canine Police Officers conducted a demonstration at a camp that I attended, I thought it would be a great job to have. They showed us some of the commands. The Canine Police Officers also showed how the dog would attack and hold onto the suspect. The Canine Police Officers also said that some of the commands are in a different language. Depending on where the dog was trained, that is the language that most of the commands are in. It would also be a great job for me because I love dogs.

I had the opportunity to lead my track team in some events and it brought out a leadership trait I always had. Sadly, my senior years of track, I fell sick and experienced kidney failure and it was a very hard obstacle in my life. I'm Thankful that God pulled me through and showed me how important your health is. Now I eat more healthier and drink more water because of it. With that being said, being a healthcare administrator share everything I enjoy doing. I like to lead and make sure things are moving smoothly.
