In high school, it is common to be involved in many activities. You see the people who are focusing more on sports who will play soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, baseball or softball in the spring, and cross country in the summer. You also see people who focus more on the arts who are in band, choir. and Muse Machine year round. There are also people who incorporate aspects of both. All of these people are very well rounded, and it is important to be involved in activities in this time of adolescence. These activities can influence career choices and determine your friends. Because of this, it is very important that students have the opportunity to do many things. I am fortunate enough to be involved in many activities including youth group, concert band, marching band, sound system at school and church, Rise student leader, home ec club, church, babysitting, Muse Machine captain, and participation in school and community musicals. I am also a future FFA member and future jazz band member. …show more content…
Sadly, because the school year is coming to an end, youth group will be ending. We will continue to meet on Sunday mornings, however, where we will do small six-week studies. I also will be attending Seneca Lake Youth Camp in July where I will spend a week in Senecaville, Ohio and study the bible more along with most of my youth group. I also love watching preschoolers for our yearly vacation bible school, which my church calls summer kids club. I decided to become a student leader for Rise, our school youth group, at the suggestion of a friend who is also a leader. I have enjoyed actively participating in that this year and will share leadership of the group next year as
Each and every school presents itself with new opportunities for their students; UHS presents some of the best opportunities in the country for music students such as myself. UHS provides their students with one of the best music programs available in California. This is one of the many reasons I long to attend UHS. As a violinist I want the best way to improve, along with honing my skills and University High School is the best place to do so. In addition the small classroom, as well as the low school population sparks my interest. I believe that the enclosed environment will provide enhanced collaboration between the professor, and student. This connection between mentor and pupil is critical to victory in high school, and large schools with
When I first started high school I hated it, I felt like it was a lot of pressure and everyone seemed to know everyone and I had just moved from Texas and came into a class where everyone knew each other. I stood out and felt very uncomfortable but as time went by I loved high school. I made lots of new friends, had great teachers that were very close to me and was succeeding in my classes. My main goal was to graduate with a good GPA, do well on my ACT and make my mom proud. Coming to Illinois was a big change from Texas, my parents separated and my dad abandoned us so my mom decided to move to Illinois because her brother lives here and would help her out financially till she was on her feet. My mom works two jobs. I am the youngest out
I attend a relatively small, private, Catholic high school in northern New Jersey called Don Bosco Prep. I am involved in a variety of activities including sports, music, and various clubs and organizations. My school encouraged me to grow academically, socially, culturally, and spiritually. Our school motto is “empowering young men for life”. I feel that my school has given me the tools to be an engaged student. The school promotes a brotherhood which has benefitted me personally. Whether a friendship forged from a study group or one formed with a teammate, each friendship brings different experiences to my life for which I am grateful.
The most important activity I have done in my high school career is chorus. During school hours, we spend time preparing for concerts, and outside of school we have rehearsals, performances, extracurricular choirs, and concert tours in which we devote much of our time.
Throughout my four years at West Warwick High School, I was able to partake in a multitude of activities both in and outside of school. A prime example of activities I engaged in are co-curricular activities in school- such as, social committee, student council, yearbook, Best Buddies, and the Leadership circle- where I was able to work with a group of diversified people who all could bring different ideas and thoughts to the group. Moreover, by working with people who ultimately have divergent ideas and personalities has certainly helped change and prepare
My interests and passions supplement my education in high school in a variety of ways. Show choir, musicals, plays, chorus, band, jazz band, and so much more allowed me to use my creativity everyday in multiple ways. All of these arts opportunities added to the excitement of coming to school, which naturally helped me succeed in my academic pursuits. Not only do I enjoy high school, but many weekend days have been spent waiting to go back to school so that I can sing again, or play my trumpet again, or just learn something really interesting.
Participation in extracurricular activities is considered an important part of a pupil's scholastic life. Activities include marching band, choir, robotics, Yearbook, Yes Club, and Cheerleading.
I sincerely have a deep desire to give back to my school and community at large. I have been given so many opportunities to grow and succeed that I feel that I need to give back to in as many areas as possible. My involvement in the community began in elementary school through my church group. I have always had a love for the elderly. I regularly visited nursing homes and assisted living facilities engaging in activities there. Also, I worked with the Salvation Army during the Christmas break to raise money for the homeless. In high school, I have had to manage my time wisely to include volunteering with the demands of advanced placement and dual enrollment classes and extra- curricular activities. One of my main passions is to volunteer
Currently, I volunteer and participate at numerous places; that include recreation centers, my current high school, public library, and etc. I commit my time to serve the community and the school with events like open house, food drives, school tours, and etc. I volunteer for different programs like lifeguard, link crew leader, tutor and etc. Throughout my high school life, I always took charge as a leader to help the community and the school with any occasion. I look for opportunities to help the community and school and that includes charity work, food drives and etc. I will contribute to the local and the community of the Laurier by volunteering for different occasions like university tours, charity work, and food drive. I also will contribute
I would like to attend Kennedy Catholic High School for many reasons. One reason I would like to attend Kennedy is because of the better education as a private and Catholic school. When I shadowed at Kennedy, I noticed that there were a lot of AP class available and enjoyed seeing people were placed at the levels of their needs. Another reason I would want to attend Kennedy Catholic is because of the wide variety of sports that I am interested in such as Volleyball, Basketball, and Football. I also like that there are many clubs to join or create. Specifically, I am interested in joining or creating a cultural diversity club. In addition, from the moment I shadowed, I knew I felt comfortable being there. The kind community, diverse students,
While sports are a great way for kids to stay active, there are some alternative choices if children are not having fun with the sport. There are many of after school activities in which they can get involved once they are in junior high and high school. As a seventh grader or twelfth grader, there are many opportunities to participate in non-sport activities. These activities include drama, photography, Key Club, yearbook, D.E.C.A, Auto Club, Leadership, and much more.
I would like to make it out of highschool and into college. The reason I would like to do that is because I would like to take my dad's advice for once and prove everyone wrong. Also so I can prove to myself that I can do something if I put my mind to it.Also to show myself that hard work pays off sometimes.
Who will be the class president? Who will be trying out for the football team? All these topics are brought up and advertised for one reason, and that is to get involved. Being involved in extra-curricular activities is one of the best ways to make high school as memorable as possible. During my time in high school, I had many peers and teachers tell me I should have run for class president, and I regret the fact that I did not on many occasions. Aside from not being in student government, I was very active in my high school. I participated in every school event, and was the head of the spirit squad and Spanish club for multiple years. Making myself a part of many different clubs and participating in every event I left high school with memories to last a life
Activities that I would like to participate in high school would be soccer, and Deca. I would like to be in these two activities because, I have played soccer since I was five and have been on the op team all my life. I spend a lot of time and effort into soccer and it’s always been something fun and extra for me to participate in. I would like to participate in Deca because, my sister has been in it for her senior year and she talks about it on a high pedestal and it sounds like a great high school opportunity. Also, Deac helps you better prepare for your future and debates and, or problems you will hate to face and discus in the future. I also feel as if these two activities will help me highschool because, soccer is my stress reliever and gives me something to do at school. Deca will help me prepare for m future and will not only help me in highschool but in the rest of my life.
It is important for adolescents to participate in extracurricular activities. Student who participate in these activities improve their academic scores and social life. Extracurricular activities can also help reduce many peer pressure related problems. “They enrich the lives of the students, their families and our communities. These activities create well rounded children who learn what their interests and talents are because they have been exposed to such opportunities” (Extracurricular Activities, Blogadmin). For most adolescents extracurricular activities should be required among what they do outside of school.
