I am for the motion; the farmers should separate the powers of government into tree branches and make a system of checks and balances to guard against abuse of those powers. Farmers should have the right to states this as said. I also, agree with this motion because, me personally, I think that agriculture is more important than Congress’s power. There has been a pattern of overreaching power in the legislative branch has occurred. With more farms not only would we have more food but we would have more resources. That’s why I agree with this statement. Another reason and the last reason is that the factories we use need a lot of the resources we grow in the farms.
farms to keep their prices low, can eventually cause the market to fail. (58) The article The
Now is the time to stand up, and defend those hard-working family farmers and ranchers that do so much for us. Right To Farm will shield them from needless red-tape, and attacks from out of state special interests. That way, they can do what they do best: Grow great tasting, nutritious food we can all enjoy...and afford. Now that was the vote yes part of it my big question of don't we already have the right to farm? This came straight from a government website
Sure, industrial food is cheaper and easier to make, but smaller farms who make most of the food humans eat, do not get a lot of money, meaning people will go broke and lose their jobs. "we are a family owned business." Sandhya Dirks, the author of The Economic Impact of Killing 'Pink Slime' says. To further Dirks idea, their are more people who work on small, local farms, than large, industrial farms. MIchael Pollan, the author of Omivores Dilemma, says, " " If the American farmer is more productive than even before, how come so many farmers are going broke." IN other words- people who work on small local farms, who work so much hard than industrial farmers, who spend their days slaving away in a field, make less then the industrial farmers, who work
Thesis: Michael Pollan overlooks the many benefits of the current system of food production, which allows us to produce more food on less land than pre-industrial agriculture. His proposal that the nation switch to a local produce model is not economically feasible for the United States.
Nobody denies that the need for more food grows with the global population. Factory farms seem to be a solution to this problem since they produce mass quantities of food for cheap compared to their organic counterparts, which are forty-seven percent more expensive (Consumer Reports). The factory farming business, however, is not the best way to feed more people since it pollutes the environment. The factory
Thus affecting the food quality of the animal itself in question. 1 c. Factory Farms help feed millions of people and create millions of jobs for Americans but we should end Factory farms because the animals themselves are being treated wrongly thus changing the food quality. 2. Body Paragraph A a. Factory Farming Does not treat animals humanely as they are stuffed in tight cages, bad living conditions, and no sunlight what so ever.
In the Federalist 51 of the Federalist Papers James Madison writes “In republican government, the legislative authority necessarily predominates...the weight of the legislative authority requires that it should be thus divided.” It is necessary for the legislative branch to have the most power because they reflect the will of the people since we directly elect members of Congress and the laws the legislative branch creates inevitably affects the people. The members of the legislative branch are the closest link to the people; they represent specific interest groups and must be responsive to those interest groups or risk losing re-election. The framers of the constitution such as James Madison believed that since Congress is closest to the people they would have a democratic legitimacy that neither the Executive or Judicial branches would possess.
The documentary Food Inc. is a great example of commercial farming. The purpose of commercial farming is to mass produce food and animals, to feed the community. The concept of commercial farming could also go along food security. The community needs to make sure that there is enough food to feed the growing population at all times. The problem right now isn’t that there isn’t enough food, but rather that there is too much food. The Tyson company produces all kinds of meat to feed people around the country, and when doing so they tend to overproduce. With this overproduction, we are left with expired animals that cannot be produced into food for consumption, and in turn, provide extra parts that aren’t useful or helpful.
branches of government. These are just a few of the duties of our U.S. Congress.
In the article The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race Jared Diamond argues that switching to agriculture was a mistake, and that hunting and gathering came with less consequences. Hunting and gathering may be better to not spread as much disease and not as such of a risk of malnutrition, but the population now is too big to switch back. To keep a constantly growing population agriculture should not change.
Oliver Ellsworth, an important American lawyer and politician that lived during the first American Independence day, states his opinion on a new American Congress, “The powers of congress must be defined, but their means must be adequate to the purposes of their constitution. It is possible there may be abuses and misapplications; still, it is better to hazard something than to hazard at all”. In the original United States Constitution, the Framers wanted to make three different and equal branches of government, but today that is not the case. In present day government, Congress is more powerful than the President. The Legislative Branch, or Congress, is the second branch of the United States Federal Government. Congress is made up of two houses called the Senate and the House of Representatives. The main purpose of
that “farming is often considered the crown jewel of the U.S. economy”. This means that without
In 2015, agriculture was a $133.1 billion dollar industry nationally. With such a huge income you would think that everyone farmed. The truth is that only 2% of America’s population live on a farm. The number is drastic compared to the income received that year. People generally associate these statistics to “all farming must be factory farming then.” Actually, 99% of farms are family farms based. A lot of the so-called facts about the agriculture industry are not always the truth. There are multitudes of sources that are for the increase of the agriculture industry then there are some that are just watching for the downfall of the industry. If I had the opportunity to speak with someone who was opposed to agriculture, I would ask them a few simple questions. I would ask “where they thought we would be without agriculture?” I would then proceed to ask “If they had ever faced starvation or having no clothing?” These are simple questions that when people slander agriculture they don’t really think about, but they
Thesis Statement: The U.S. government should ban factory farms and require the meat industry to raise animals in their natural environments.
I never really understood the American Farming still this last summer. Most of my time in American was spent traveling City to city: from DC to California. One of the things I found out was that food is there it does not matter if it in season or not, food is there in the Walmart and Kroger twenty-four seven. I asked myself how big are this farms. Thought-out my traveling all I saw on the side of the road was corn and soybeans .insed of me I feel like if I had time to travel to the rural I could see all these farms that grow this beautifully tomato and plan radishes, a route, apples and all thing I in the Kroger.
