Why is an itch worse than pain?
When you’re in pain there’s no question to it. It’s there, whether you like it or not. You can get over it, you can think you’re being over dramatic but ultimately bruised knees are bruised knees. What is an itch? Dry skin? Infected skin? Either way, you can’t see it. Theres no evidence that something itches. Maybe it’s all imaginary. Maybe it’s not. When you work through pain there’s a sort of achievement, you’ve been brave. If you ignore an itch, the itch just gets worse. It’s just annoying, frustrating and unrewarding. I suppose emotional pain is much like an itch. You can’t see it and it’s impossible to ignore. Why is it happening? Who knows. Why do we feel emotion? Who knows. When we feel physical pain there’s evidence, there’s seldom

Another thing I know, is that this is almost certainly my most predominant flaw. Whether this is because I think to much or whether this is because I think to little is a complete mystery. One thing I do know, however, is that it is quite possibly because I am so in-between. Much the same as Alexander II lost control because he was neither too liberal nor conservative, I feel like I am the same way inclined. When learning about the Tsar I empathised with this character completely, purely because I felt I could relate. Life is always led on the fence. Call me inauthentic, but sometimes it’s best not to make a decision. However, much like Alexander, I live a life that relies on decision after decision. I am not a follower, thus I cannot sit on the fence forever. Perhaps, life is merely a matter of the road less travelled. There is in fact no meaning behind anything. Whichever road you take is indifferent because who knows what the other road would have held. Maybe, my problem is that I take everything too seriously and too concrete. By necessity of putting such a weight on all of my options I leave myself dazed and
1. It is important that we take into consideration, areas other than physical pain and have an holistic approach. Pain is whatever the person who is suffering it feels it to be. Physical pain can be experienced as a result of disease or injury, or some other form of bodily distress. For example childbirth. Although not associated with injury or disease, but can be an extremely painful experience. Pain can also be social, emotional and spiritual as well as just physical.
However, the point is that we feel them physically. Many people feel something and then bury it deep down until they think it’s gone. What you feel does not leave your body or your heart unless you confront it. Emotions are meant to be endured, not ignored. I want to help you confront your emotions, not run around them. Confronting your emotions will allow you to experience happiness, even if something sad or upsetting happens in your day” (Valpone). (elaborate)
Emotional pain and loss lingers in people’s minds and often stays with them for a lifetime and can often cause distress on people’s character while physical pain and loss is strictly present I think because if you hurt somewhere physically it is often temporary and if you lose a loved one on the physical world that person’s
Pain not only involves the physical reaction to damaged tissue, but also involves an emotional and cognitive response by the person experiencing the pain (Backer, 1994). A person's prior experience will influence how pain is managed. Pain is a signal that something is not
The physical pain is only one aspect of the impact it has on these victims. The trauma also causes emotional
Psychological conditions leave more of a scar in your heart than being physically hurt. For instance, the idea of being separated
Everyone experiences pain. A person can have mental pain, physical pain, or both. Matt describes
Right now my heart is broken. It is not broken because someone else broke it. It is broken because I picked it up and dashed it upon a sharp rock. To say she hurt me would be to say that how she experienced the last 36 hours were wrong and or invalid, and that the way I feel is more important. We work with the information we have. Hell, we don't even really know that the people in our lives aren't simulations working on some sort of chaotic algorithm (or visa versa), and you really don't know what the correct response is for someone else based on their information and their experience. It would be foolish to attribite your happiness, your pain, or your anger to a person when someone else in your shoes may experience this simulation, these moments very differently given the same circumstances. That doesn't mean your feelings are invalid, it just means that you alone are responsible for those feelings, you alone must bare your suffering and your contentment.
The physical aspect of pain can be healed over time, whereas the mental can’t. Mental pain require professional help in order to help cope, and in some cases mental injuries can last a lifetime. This type of pain is usually associated with emotional distress. Despite all this, pain is a survival skill that our ancestors devolved in response to the dangers they endured millions of years ago. This skill is called fight-or-flight
Pain can be emotional or physical, but the obvious part about it is that it is caused by being hurt by someone or something. The mental wall that everyone builds after being emotionally abused makes many people believe nothing will ever hurt them. They are extraordinarily wrong. Even when someone believes one hundred percent that the wall is indestructible, they should never have
Have you ever caused physical pain to somebody? Some events have less of an emotional toll on certain people. However, most people experience the same series of feelings in the rare occasions such as tragic events and loss of loved ones. Usually, feelings of frustration and grief come about when someone has been hurt. Examples of this are visible on a much larger scale, such as causing wars between two or more countries.
Don’t be afraid to choose your own way, it may result in a brilliant idea. Some people may believe because whether or not you’re wrong or right you can decide what is best for you, and in these two stories “Choices” by Susan Kerslake and “Forgiveness and Families” by Shirley Jackson both have one main idea involving the strength within you and the choices you choose to make with that. The two main characters that some people believe are similar would be Peggy from “Choices” and Cam from “Forgiveness and Families”. Some things that Peggy and Cam have in common would be they both made a bad choice. The narrator describing Peggy’s thoughts said “Should she die tomorrow, some else could deal with a dirty sink” (Kerslake 118) but who truly knows
Another one of my major flaws is having the incorrect point of view. I need to make sure I go over an essay a couple times because I normally add incorrect point of view the first time.
The International Association for the Study of Pain defined pain as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage” (Unk, 2007). Pain being described such as this allows us to see that pain is a perception, not unlike seeing or hearing. Pain is the most common reason that people seek medical attention but pain is very hard to define because it is subjective. Pain perception is the process by which a painful stimulus is relayed from the site of stimulation to the central nervous system (Freudenrich, 2008). In order to determine if pain is a perception of the mind or if it is biological we must first understand how the process of pain works.
The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage” (1979). Pain is actually the culprit behind warranting a visit to a physician office for many people (Besson, 1999). Notoriously unpleasant, pain could also pose a threat as both a psychological and economic burden (Phillips, 2006). Sometimes pain does happen without any damage of tissue or any likely diseased state. The reasons for such pain are poorly understood and the term used to describe such type of pain is “psychogenic pain”. Also, the loss of productivity and daily activity due to pain is also significant. Pain engulfs a trillion dollars of GDP for lost work time and disability payments (Melnikova, 2010). Untreated pain not only impacts a person suffering from pain but also impacts their whole family. A person’s quality of life is negatively impacted by pain and it diminishes their ability to concentrate, work, exercise, socialize, perform daily routines, and sleep. All of these negative impacts ultimately lead to much more severe behavioral effects such as depression, aggression, mood alterations, isolation, and loss of self-esteem, which pose a great threat to human society.
