Why Is Chivalry Important In Today's Society

Chivalry: a simple code that in today’s society is almost obsolete. However, society would greatly benefit from chivalrous acts. This nation has forgotten the meaning of this code that symbolizes honor, bravery, and courtesy. In this constantly changing world, people need a moral system to live by. If everyone could all agree on a certain way of treating others, the world would be a better place.

Chivalry was designated for knights as a moral code or law for them to abide by, but sadly has been slowly being brushed under the rug by their following generations. Growing up I was taught certain aspects of a new hybrid of the Code of Chivalry such as courtesy, honor, humbleness, respect, and proper manners. Chivalry since medieval times has slowly dissipated into almost nothing compared to today. Now I am not suggesting that these traits have been lost indefinitely but they have certainly minimized. Parents are not teaching their children to be polite or use proper manners. Those traits are something I would like to thank my father for instilling in myself. I hold courtesy, honor, humbleness, respect, and proper manners highly because many people respect that. So how exactly did these values change me?

These codes where available and practiced in knight's daily life. The idea of chivalry is extremely valuable to the people, that even everything a knight wore symbolized something valuable or unique. Whether on scales large and small, bravery is presented everyday. The disregard of fear has repeated and will repeat many times in history. An example of this is the Tank Man. This man risked his welfare to stop a convoy of tanks by merely standing in their way. In the days prior, innocent men and women were slain in cold blood by the state. The morale of the protesters had fallen vastly due to the threat of death. As all faith was declining, this man singlehandedly stopped a tank convoy. With this he resented the heart and spirit of the protesters. Even after 100s slain and 1000s wounded, they continued to detest the states constant push for taking control. In today’s time the moral and social codes that were demanded back then are not now. With so many standing up to be equal and to live in whatever way they see fit,there is no place for chivalry . Knights had many duties that they had to follow so that they can become a higher rank knight and have more power. One of the tremendous parts of our society today is chivalry because it keeps the government in order and helps everyone live his or her best life. Chivalry is still needed today to function and to keep order.

I think chivalry still exist in a small part of the population today. But I believe the modern world is not a fan of chivalry . Also in the past people were more based on man on man interaction, now there is more techology. Chivalry is a nice way to live back then and anymore we have adapted to being lazy. Most people female and male don’t even like chivalry so our world is starting to erase its existence

My definition of bravery is someone who faces dangerous or difficult situations for others.

Throughout the years, the amount of chivalry in our lives has been depleted. Our values as humans have changed drastically. Everyone is in it for themselves. It’s not how it used to be. But there’s still time to change. More now than ever, chivalry is needed.

In today’s society chivalry is needed so everybody has the same expectations of behavior and so everyone is treated fairly. Chivalry is needed today more than ever. It is needed in relationships, schools, communities, and just everyday life. The world without chivalry is full of violence and cruelty and inequality, and that is the type of world we are living in now. People are deprived of privileges, beaten, and divorced every single day.

The question many people ask is chivalry dead? I believe it depends on where you grew up as in the household you were raised in. This goes for men and women. Many times I have had a bad experience with men not having chivalry. It is also the way someone may come off to you is the way you might perceive them.

chivalrous isn't necessarily the most popular word around today. Most women use other words such as mature, gentleman, and being a man. It is a man's duty to treat the girl with the utmost respect. Some men still follow the chivalrous guidelines today. Most people may argue and say it is dead , but it's all your opinion an how you was raised and religious beliefs. Chivalry is a nod to differences between the sexes. It is not about either the inferiority the lofty superiority of women . Some women will bear children and some men will step up. Chivalry is used to connect the characteristics of knighthood. What men don't understand is that that women want to be treated well and have all the say so in the realtionships.

Or are you going to storm through the door with your head held high thinking: “I could have opened that myself.
