Edgar Allan Poe- Alone Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 and died on October 7, 1849. His parents David and Elizabeth Poe came to the U.S. in 1796, from England. His mother died in 1811, when Edgar was just two years old, while all his brothers went to live with their grandparents Edgar was left for adoption. Edgar was adopted by John and Rosalie Allan and now he had another family his new father was a very successful merchant, so Edgar was growing up in a good surrounding and went to a very good school. Most of this poem is made up of imagery but it also has anaphora replaces words so it can avoid repetition of other words. In the poem he talks about being alone and how his past was dark but, with the use of anaphora he made it possible to make the poem without the repetition of the words.
