I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life. However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is the laws that we all must obey.
People have the right to freedom of speech however, every person is responsible for their own action, life, and well-being, everyone should be judge individually regardless of race, gender, and or religion.

I feel that the laws for personal liberty go too far when a woman who is experiencing an unwanted pregnancy and decide not to carry the baby to full term by terminating the pregnancy by utilizing a safe and affordable abortion, society has been against abortion for years and have been trying to stop legalizing abortion. This is a woman rights and should stay a woman chose to decide whether she want to carry a baby full term or not. Stop legalizing abortion in my opinion would not be in the best interest of the women. There could be several reasons why a woman doesn’t want to continue her pregnancy, it could be for reason like she was rape, not financially ready, to young or to old, not marry, and not stable to start a family. I personally feel that having an abortion it not affecting anyone or anybody. It is a personal decision for the individual. Laws are created to protect the
In 1973, the US Supreme Court declared abortion a nationwide fundamental right through a trial called Roe vs. Wade and protected this right underneath the Fourteenth Amendment, more specifically, the right to privacy. A basic human right, especially one outlined by the Supreme Court, must never run at risk or threat chiefly because not everyone agrees with it. Under no circumstances should a pregnancy ever adjudge mandatory. Abortion is a Constitutional right and as a nation we must fight to give the right and freedom of safe abortions to women all around the nation, make birth control and sex education accessible to women, and raise awareness about the topic itself. Roe vs. Wade case was a ground-breaking landmark case because it gave a woman the right to choose. Since then landmark cases and legislation restricted a woman from having an abortion. The rights of the unborn are the reason why a woman's rights to have an abortion are being eroded. In addition, violent events have occurred because a woman has a right to have an abortion. Clearly, this topic has affected the political, health, social, and religious, aspects of our society. Currently, women are choosing not to have an abortion. The sentiment is so strong that a Harris poll showed that 72% of Americans say abortion should be illegal after the first 3 months of pregnancy. To make this point, abortion rates are down in the states where the abortion
“Control over her body and the freedom to decide the course of her life is critical to a woman's civil rights. When a woman is pregnant it is her body that goes through all the stress of pregnancy. If she decides not to have a pregnancy she should be able to do so. Denying her the right to her body is violating her most basic freedom.
Since the Roe v Wade (1973) case, over 58 million pregnancies have been terminated. Many pro-life supporters have tried to get the Supreme Court to overturn the case because they feel as if the fetus should be covered by the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution which states that all citizens born or naturalized in the United States have the right to citizenship. Pro-life supporters consider the fetus living, just inside of a different body. Having the case overturned will make abortion illegal and that would cause many problems for many women such as losing the rights to control their body. Although many people feel as if women should not have the right to terminate a pregnancy because there are people in the world willing to adopt a child, abortion should be legal because some women are unprepared for a child due to income, mentally unstableness as the aftermath of a rape, or judgement based on their religious beliefs.
In 2008, twelve women taking resident in the U.S. died due to legal abortions performed during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. Abortion should be available to all females living in the United States, but must be a legal citizen to have late abortions, which are during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. Abortion is a right that women have, and the Fourth Amendment “Search and Seizure” supports it. Fewer women will exercise abortion if it is kept legal in the U.S. Late abortions are dangerous, so only legal citizens of the U.S. may have second or third trimester abortions.
Having freedom is what makes the people who they are as humans, and what they are meant to be. Freedom is simple as saying small and easy things, "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows" (Orwell 84). Before anything else, freedom is the most important thing they can all have, because without it,
In our government the topic of abortion causes controversy between politics parties. Before the option of abortion came to place, if a woman was pregnant out of wedlock, they would move to another state and stay there until they gave birth. Another option those women had was adoption or allowed their bay to be raised by one of their relative member. Abortions didn’t become a prominent issue in society until about 1880, even then most states banned it except to save the life of the woman if she was in danger while giving birth caring the baby. Between 1967 and 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court found that a woman’s decision to terminate a pregnancy in the first trimester was protected under the “right of privacy…founded in the Fourteenth Amendment’s concept of personal liberty.”
“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” is a phrase nearly every American knows as being the three unalienable rights that cannot be revoked by the government. These self-evident truths first appeared in the Declaration of Independence, a document written to rid the United States from its torrid oppressors. Liberty, however, is the most important of the three, seeing as if American did not have it, residents would simply be slaves to their government and could not be truly free-thinking citizens.
For centuries, a woman’s right to abortion has been argued. Individuals with pro-life and anti-abortion beliefs think abortion is murder. While others feel it to be a women’s moral right, a personal privacy right that has been implied in the United States Constitution. I strongly feel that a woman has the right to an abortion. However, the termination of a pregnancy is not something to be taken lightly, I believe the states should have some sort of regulations in place to ensure the woman’s safety and welfare of the potential child.
With abortion only concerning a woman's body it should be up to that woman if she chooses to get the abortion, not anyone else's. They have the right “to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation” but as Supreme Justice court Sandra Day O'Connor wrote that by even taking away the option to have the abortion is affecting “their ability to control their reproductive lives.” which is invitation of them even getting to decide their life course. Personal liberty is guaranteed by the Constitution. Another important right of common law is to choose. This is enough to allow women to decide whether or not to stop pregnancy. Without this interpretation the whole concept of personal liberty would mean little to women. A man can easily break the relations when he finds out about a pregnancy. He makes his choice, and no one doubts it. It is fair to say then that a woman should have the same choice. Pregnancy and childbirth may determine if a woman ever gets an education, and as a result, if she will be able to support herself and a child. Women may also find themselves pregnant in the beginning or middle of the career. Or, couples choose abortion to start their families when they feel ready and able to raise their children. Finally, in some situations, giving birth may result in a medical complication, trauma, or even woman's death. At a global scale, abortions contribute to the resolving of the overpopulation problem, potentially the worst problem of the coming generations. Meanwhile, only in the US over a million of abortions are done every year.
The power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. A word created by man to escape the bonds of tyranny to express the idea of what it means to persist one's own ambitions. Freedom. Freedom is not the absence of confinement but the will to achieve freedom when imprisoned. After carefully concluding the reading done over this semester one is able to clearly understand the confinement these early Americans felt and their decision to achieve a form of freedom. Freedom has always existed but it is the history of this nation that will define what actions freedom takes.
Very disturbing! Terminating the right of having an abortion for woman would only do more harm than good in my opinion, it would increase the poverty and mental health levels in the U.S.A. today. These horrific dilemmas, would then lead to more crimes, broken homes, families living on government assistance and so much more. As an ending result, I believe ethics on abortion brings upon several ethical theories, such as, natural law, Kant’s ethical theory, virtue ethic and a few more but one that stands out the most is of the utilitarian theory. I chose this theory, because a utilitarian would take into consideration if having an abortion would bring the greatest good as an outcome. Abortion is a personal decision, that woman deserve the right to
How would you feel of your right to live was taken from you? Abortion does exactly that, it takes way the right of a child to live. The fetuses in their mother’s womb are killed and cannot do anything about it. Abortion should be illegal because it kills a potential living being, harms the women’s health, demean the value of life and erode responsibility.
To deny a woman the right to terminate her pregnancy is akin to robbing her of any ability to make decisions about her body, her self, and her future. The woman is effectively forced, against her will, to assume an identity and a future that she normally would have avoided. This type of coersion can permanently damage a persons emotional and psychological health. The one thing that makes each of us an individual is our decision making freedom and powers regarding our own future and actions. But when we are robbed of our ability to make our own decisions about our future, our self, and our identity, then we are robbed of our most essential and valuable treasure…our self. If a woman wishes to obtain an early term abortion…to terminate a pregnancy…then she must be allowed to choose this option. If she id denied an abortion, then both her and the future child will suffer tremendously. Please stop viewing abortion as something that you should have sole control over. A person’s body is their own, not yours. It is threatening and invasive when others attempt to direct the lives of their peers. Rather supporting the tyrannical idea of forced childbirth, perhaps you ought to consider the more moderate concept that all people should be able to choose the future of their bodies and reproductive functions. I advocate neither abortion nor
