It is important to allow Syrian refugees to come to Canada to escape awful living conditions because Canada has enough resources to help; It is a great investment in the economy, and it will improve Canada’s foundation as a role model for multiculturalism. With the current atrocities and horrible living conditions it is clear to see why the Syrians are seeking refuge in another country. That is where Canada comes in. We call ourselves a country of freedom, of love, of respect, and most importantly of peace. In addition, Syrians coming to Canada would be a great investment in our economy and it would also further Canada’s reputation as a country that embraces its multiculturalism. Therefore, we can and should be the catalyst for a better future …show more content…
Little do they know, Canada is making every Syrian refugee go through three different screenings, in order to ensure that Canada remains safe. This also makes it difficult for any Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) members from entering Canada, as they are dangerous, and can seriously harm our country. Firstly, the Syrian’s are being picked by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, then each family is interviewed before flying over to Canada, and finally they are screened by the Canada’s Security Services. The high security processes that the refugees are going through may intimidate the Syrians, but these prosecutions will make them realize how safe our country really is. To think about all the death and destruction the Syrians have dealt with over the past couple of months is saddening, therefore as members of the community, we are responsible for making everyone feel welcomed. The little things like warm clothes for winter, old furniture, and house hold items that aren’t being used could make a big difference in helping the Syrians settle down. The health care system that Canada has will also help cure any sicknesses that the refugees may have caught over the past months while living on the streets, or during there long journey to …show more content…
The professional middle class refugees from Syria are the ones who will be contributing to our country, by providing resources that can up boost Canada’s economy. For example, the government phrased that Atlantic Canada is in need for some Syrian refugees to be apart of their business so that they can help with the population growth in Nova Scotia. This is targeted towards the younger refugees, who we hope will take part in that opportunity. Many of the businesses that are successful were started up by refugees from Lebanon, and now the people of Nova Scotia are questioning whether or not this will be another successful time with the help of the new generation of Syrian refugees. I believe that the Syrian refugees consist of high levels of knowledge which can aid in different aspects of businesses. More specifically, they can help businesses in the provinces with higher populations, as there is more demand for necessities. For example, the high fashion markets could contribute to the high end clothing brands that are starting up in Canada. In addition, The Conference Board of Canada brought discussed an important point that without the immigrants coming into Canada, there would be a shortage of labour. This would therefore decrease on our medical resources that we receive from the government, as well as the pension funds that the
People all over the world have been asking themselves if it is right for their country to let in refugees from Syria. It is a question everybody fears from answering because of the consequences it may take. Several states in America have denied the entry because of security reasons and the over population. Even if there are several countries still refusing Syrians there are a few who are accepting them. Looking at some articles, I’ve seen differential opinions and one must read and understand why Syria refugees need a chance to be rescued from all the chaos and horror they’ve been through.
Canada is well known for its size. It has the same size as China, yet it has about thirty times as less people. Inviting the refugees to Canada helps increase the country’s population and fill the empty space in the northern territories and the maritime provinces. Furthermore, the elderly population has been increasing dramatically in Canada, which means more retirements have been occurring. Thus, refugees will also help to fill empty workplaces, as Daniel Tencer states “Atlantic Canada has been facing low population growth and an aging workforce for years, and some business leaders there are pushing to make sure the region
Countries across the world are scrambling to help the situation and develop policies around it. Canada is among those countries. Canada has begun accepting thousands of displaced refugees, with more to come. We have also been sending aid and relief funds to countries who have been greatly impacted by the influx of refugees. It is not just the governments helping refugees. NGO’s, communities, charities, organizations and citizens have provided a lot of support for refugees. Canada has not only brought refugees under our roof, but a lot of funding has been sent to countries and organizations who are most directly impacted by the Syrian war and refugees.
Other countries such as the United States of America has welcomed refugees with open arms, with this they had an outbreak of refugee industries. They had employed 3000 workers, however, Canada was not welcoming to refugees especially the Jews, because they thought they had nothing to offer which was not true because many refugees brought work and new customers. In an editorial, The Globe and Mail, June 19, 1939, it states,
The truth is exactly the opposite. Refugees seeking protection in Canada are not threats to security, but are in fact, they are seeking security and protection from threats to their own lives. Refugees all go through a heavy front-end security screening that is done by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service upon their arrival in Canada. It is also much more difficult to enter Canada as a refugee. The refugee process involves security checks, fingerprinting and interviews. Therefore, it is not likely that a person intending to commit crime would choose to go through detailed examinations. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act refuses refugees if they are found to be inadmissible on the basis of security, serious criminal behavior or human rights violations (Government Of Canada, 2016). It is important to realize that Canada takes the matter of security and protecting our citizens very seriously and as citizens themselves they want to be sure that they are keeping the country they live in very
Immigration is of great economic and social benefit to Canada. It’s an important role in developing our economy, and it shapes the nation into a multicultural nation. Immigration is a significant role in building our economy, providing growth in the labor force, making a strong economy, and becoming a multicultural nation.
The party announced that they will welcome more refugees from Syria to Canada. Then, Trudeau said that they will provide more help to those providing aid in the region. Their party spend a lot of effort in bringing in the refugees. They have fulfilled the promise they gave to the people for electing them in the election. They fully support the arrival of new Syrian refugees to our country.
The Canadian refugee plan that Trudeau had promised has been a controversial one. Would it really endanger Canadian citizens if 25,000 refugees are let into Canada. Most Canadians do not oppose trudeau’s plan, however more than 70% of Canadians think that his aim is too high. The current reality is that more than 25,000 Syrian refugees have already been brought into Canada. In fact as of April 3rd 2015 the number of Syrian refugees that have been brought into Canada since november 4th 2015 is 26,213. So the argument that 25,000 is too high isn’t valid right now, because more than 25,000 have already came in and most Canadians didn’t even notice. Although the Canadian public and government don’t have the same opinion on letting refugees in the
The leader of the official Federal opposition party NDP, Mr. Mulcair, began fervently critiquing the IRPA policies that were being endorsed by the Conservative Immigration Minister Mr. Chris Alexander in 2015. Trudeau and his liberal allies also raised concerns about the Tory’s party’s political position in regards to accepting refugees. Members of the Parliament were not the only ones expressing their concerns about Canada’s lack of initiative in providing a safe haven to the Syrian refugees fleeing horrendous
It is clear that Trudeau is focused on globalization and in a recent meeting with US President Donald Trump stated that only minor changes should be made to the North American Free Trade Act (Jackson and Slack). In addition to NAFTA, Trudeau has been a key member in the Trans Pacific Partnership, which allows for easier trade across borders. Both international agreements support the idea of free trade across borders and overall globalization. Trudeau also promised to spend $100,000,000 on resettling 25,000 Syrian refugees in 2015 (Plucinska), and since has only built on his goal, allowing over 40,000 refugees into Canada. Trudeau’s international policies of borderless societies and his will to fulfill the needs of the world’s most desperate parallel Karl Marx’s Communist ideologies. Justin Trudeau actions, both nationally and internationally, show his commitment to the Proletariat class, and his beliefs in globalism, tax breaks for the middle class, and secularism prove that he favors Communist
But, for that to happen, we must first understand why opinions have changed over time. According to Wilkes & Corrigall-Brown (2010), the change in attitude over immigration issues in Canada have been due to ideological shift and changing macro-conditions. The framing of the topic as economically beneficial by the government in recent times, is said to be what has led to greater acceptance of migrants. So, relating this to the acceptance of refugees from Syria, some people are critical of the idea, because they see them as “dangerous” and a threat to national security. While most people are accepting of them, would looking at it from a different viewpoint be able to change the minds of the non-believers? Simply put, it could. It depends on how it is communicated to people, but if done in a way that appeals to them, it could bring more support and
[in the Refugee Crisis] … and personally resettle-and essentially adopt- a refugee family.” The way that Canada has structured its system is further defined in consist of one year where “…groups would provide financial and practical support [in] subsidizing food and rend to supplying clothes to helping them learn English an finding work.” The system of integration that Canada presents is definitely appealing to the community of refugees seeking a safe space for it immense benefits. It is also likely that because of this thought that there is one country that will offer these sort of support networks, that there is also the expectation that there will also be other communities (nations) that will have the same sort of structure. The problem
We will also work with private sponsors to accept even more. To do this, we will invest $250 million, including $100 million this fiscal year, to increase refugee processing, as well as sponsorship and settlement services capacity in Canada. TrudeaU IS Also planing on making abandond schools and other residences into places they can live and learn.ALSO AS they are coming in Trudeao is providing essentials to them as well like new coats. Trudeao is also having debates with other government cabinets of how it can be risk of terreosim and loss of
America's President (Donald J. Trump) does not see refugees kindly and does not want them to come to America so Canada is the closest alternative and we currently quite accepting of Refugees. I believe that Canada is currently the land of peace to refugees (like america used to be) and it is important that we give them an opportunity to live in relative peace. “This is not just about welcoming 25,000 syrian refugees, it’s welcoming in 25,000 new Canadians”. I personally agree with Prime Minister Trudeau, in that it is about welcoming new Canadians. We as Canadians pride ourselves on how hospitable we are and how open we are to other cultures, races and walks of life. I think Trudeau put this quite adequately and those syrian refugees are just like us except they come from a country where there is killing and violence every day. Canada’s refugee policy is crucially important to the endurance of the peace that we all thrive upon and enjoy in Canada. The way that the Refugee system works in Canada and the way that it is executed is vital to the future of our nation and has the power to change this country
The Syrian refugee crisis has received massive media coverage. People around the world are trying to comprehend the desperate, complicated situation surrounding Syria. The civil war in Syria is the worst crisis in our time. Syrians upset at the fact that long promised reforms have not been enacted, began anti-government demonstrations which started the civil war in 2011. The peaceful protests turned ugly, with the government violently putting an end to those protests. Afterward, ordinary citizens took arms, causing the situation to escalate. Syrians are fleeing their homes because of the great violence, which have left thousands dead and millions wounded, a collapsed infrastructure, resulting in a shattered economy, and for the safety of the children. Syrians are either streaming to surrounding countries or risking their lives to travel to Europe.
