Why Is It Important To Allow Syrian Refugees

People all over the world have been asking themselves if it is right for their country to let in refugees from Syria. It is a question everybody fears from answering because of the consequences it may take. Several states in America have denied the entry because of security reasons and the over population. Even if there are several countries still refusing Syrians there are a few who are accepting them. Looking at some articles, I’ve seen differential opinions and one must read and understand why Syria refugees need a chance to be rescued from all the chaos and horror they’ve been through.

Canada is well known for its size. It has the same size as China, yet it has about thirty times as less people. Inviting the refugees to Canada helps increase the country’s population and fill the empty space in the northern territories and the maritime provinces. Furthermore, the elderly population has been increasing dramatically in Canada, which means more retirements have been occurring. Countries across the world are scrambling to help the situation and develop policies around it. Canada is among those countries. Canada has begun accepting thousands of displaced refugees, with more to come. We have also been sending aid and relief funds to countries who have been greatly impacted by the influx of refugees. It is not just the governments helping refugees. NGO’s, communities, charities, organizations and citizens have provided a lot of support for refugees. Canada has not only brought refugees under our roof, but a lot of funding has been sent to countries and organizations who are most directly impacted by the Syrian war and refugees.

Other countries such as the United States of America has welcomed refugees with open arms, with this they had an outbreak of refugee industries. They had employed 3000 workers, however, Canada was not welcoming to refugees especially the Jews, because they thought they had nothing to offer which was not true because many refugees brought work and new customers. In an editorial, The Globe and Mail, June 19, 1939, it states,

Immigration is a significant role in building our economy, providing growth in the labor force, making a strong economy, and becoming a multicultural nation.

So the argument that 25,000 is too high isn’t valid right now, because more than 25,000 have already came in and most Canadians didn’t even notice.
