The city of Leesburg is located in Central Florida, United States. Leesburg influenced my character, separating myself from negativity, relocating for college, and pursuing my career on and off the court at the next level. Leesburg is a small town. Parks, recreation centers, and schools in a radius of at most five miles of each other. Majority people spend their time fishing and at the main park, Venetian Gardens. While others spend, their time playing basketball at the Leesburg Recreation and Parks Sports Complex. Several events and sports competitions are located at this facility year-round. I have connections with many cultures, mainly because of how I was raised. I grew up in the church and was taught to love and respect all. My environment, my personality, my race, my ethics helped make these connections possible. Tradition, beliefs, financial background, and peer pressure are just a few reasons why people isolate or exclude themselves. Different cultures only communicate in school when its needed. For example, in my Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 class my junior and senior year we had culture day. Everyone was broken down into groups and assigned to a specific …show more content…
There are so many negative and positives to take from it, but the key has been finding your place. Learning to stay in your lane. Balancing athletics, academics, and social life in this community was a struggle at times. I allowed myself to get distracted going to parties knowing I had homework due, or getting influenced to do things I knew weren’t right. Taking a step back to see how quickly my peers fell prey to the negative culture, I made the decision that I was going to work twice as hard to balance my life, dedicate my time to be successful, and achieve my life

With the pass of years, I grew up knowing persons with a different cultural background. I got used to the physical and cultural differences, and the fact that there was always one thing in common.
Culture is not a fixed phenomenon, nor is it the same in all places or to all people. It is relative to time, place, and particular people. Learning about other people can help us to understand ourselves and to be better world citizens.
Culture plays a significant role in defining our identity and worldview. For newcomers, culture is the primary frame that shapes their interaction with other newcomers and with established residents in their new community. This interaction can occur anywhere and

Being born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, I was exposed to many different cultures. A few of which were Hispanics and German. They both had different languages and customs. My mom would take us to a festival in San Antonio yearly that was called the “Texas Folklife Festival”. There, our family would experience many different cultures with singing, dancing, food, art, and language. Our family enjoyed learning about the different places others came from and how they celebrated their heritage. Learning to appreciate where others came from and their back ground, gave me a better appreciation for differences.

Fredericksburg Virginia is located roughly half way between Washington, DC and Richmond. Located on the Rappahannock River, Fredericksburg has seen considerable growth but still preserves some of its history in the historic downtown district of some 40 blocks with architecture that dates back to the 18th and 19th Century.
