My theory is that Sam Westing wasn’t murdered at all. I think that Westing is using his game to find the rightful heir to inherit his estate and wealth. Also, I think that he faked his death to throw off the heirs and pull the keen from the dense. Of course we already know that all of the clues point to the song America the Beautiful. That would happen because Sam is so patriotic, as of the fact that Sam was dressed as Uncle Sam in his coffin. But only a person who knew this and could tell what the clues were all trying to say would be a person who knows Sam or is smart enough to figure it out. Sam would want someone who is very smart, so they can spend and raise his company properly. The only two heirs to figure this out were the pair,
Simmons and Benjamin watched her drown. After this incident, Simmons was said to be boasting about the murder to his friends. He told his friends that he killed Crooks because she saw his face. Simmons then later admitted that the accident was his motive for killing Crook’s.
Having to find a place to cremate his friend’s corpse, and at the same time trying to stay alive, proved to be quite the challenge. His hardships on his way to find a suitable place to cremate Sam McGee is described in stanzas 34 - 39, “In the days to come, though my lips were dumb, in my heart how I cursed that load. In the long, long night, by the firelight, while the huskies, round in a ring, howled out their woes to the homeless snows - O God! How I loathed the thing And every day that quiet clay seemed to heavy and heavier grow; and on I went, though the grub was getting low; the trail was bad and I felt half mad, but I swore I would not give in.” The goings get so tough along his trip that the narrator begins to feel jealous of Sam McGee’s corpse, thinking death is better than what he is going
The poem begins "I, too, sing America. I am the darker brother." From those two lines alone, one can see that he is proud of who he is and introducing himself to the reader. In the line "I, too, sing America" he is explaining that he is an American like everyone else
In fact there is no evidence tying him to the crime at all except a few fingerprints and a handprint in Hae Min Lee’s car which means that Syed was at some point in her car. This mean nothing because of how often they hung out together while they were dating and afterwards. Even after the break up both Syed and Lee were still good friends (Episode 1). When law enforcement discovered the body they also found two pieces of evidence next to the body, an empty bottle of alcohol and a piece of rope; they didn't test those two for any DNA evidence (Episode 3). Also supposedly there was shovels Wilds and Syed used to dig the grave for Lee but, both shovels were never recovered along with their soiled clothing that they had on that day from the graves dirt. Wilds threw away the evidence away behind West View mall. “She dives Jay back to Eastview Mall to the dumpsters back there so that Jay can Retrieve the shovels and wipe the handles clean of fingerprints” (Episode 4). The whole ordeal with evidence is almost sketchy seeing how little solid physical evidence the state have against Syed .Proving the state's case was weak there was one person that could disprove that Syed left with Wilds to kill Lee; that person is Asia McLean. McLean in fact wrote Syed notes saying she saw Syed and talked to him in the library at the same time the murder was suppose to take place. No attorney contacted McLean
My Brother Sam Is Dead. What is it about that statement that develops the book so much? I think that when you start reading the book that the title interests you and draws you to read it more. There are so many different ways that it can be interpreted you don't know what to expect until your done with the book and all the pieces fit together. The statement
Dan Sickles was a Civil War general who served as a Union officer during many important battles. During the Battle of Gettysburg, Dan Sickles’s failure to comply with his superiors orders led to the complete annihilation of his Corps and he was relieved of duty after the battle. Sickles was born October 20, 1819. During Sickle’s college years, he attended New York University. There he studied law. After completion of his college education, Sickles decided to become a politician. He started his political career in 1847 as a Democrat. He was elected as senator of New York. In 1859, Sickles murdered Philip Barton Key for having an affair. In the case, Sickles was represented by Edwin M. Stanton, who would later become Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln. During his trial, Sickles pleaded stated that he was temporarily insane. This was the first time that a defendant ever used this alibi in court before. The jury declared Dan Sickles not guilty, and he was free to go.
16- year old James Colder and 17 - year old Mark Lopez located at Waverly, Virginia, was found fatally shot out in the backyard of Colders residents house on December 1, 2016.
Burglary was the first thought for a motive, but that theory was quickly abandoned. Nothing had been taken from the house. Also, once police had a chance to sniff around and question friends and neighbors, they zeroed in on a strong candidate for the killer.
Sam’s name is cleared after Tibbs discovers that Sam could not have been driving two different cars at the same time. Tibbs acts on his instincts and finds the abortionist that Delores was going to. The abortionist tells Tibbs that someone else paid for the abortion; Tibbs pursues Delores outside for more questioning. The killer, who is the man from the diner that refused Tibbs, Henshaw, confronts Tibbs. With impeccable timing, Purdy’s gang shows up and holds Tibbs at gunpoint. Tibbs proves to Purdy that Henshaw got Delores pregnant, not Sam. The tables-turns and Purdy attacks Henshaw, but Henshaw kills Purdy in self-defense. Henshaw confesses to his crime and said he never meant to kill Colbert and only wanted to rob him for money for Delores’ abortion. The story
On April 5, 1730 around eleven o’Clock at night, William got drunk. He and another man named William Field stole four roosters, seventeen hens, five drakes, and five ducks. These animals belonged to a man named Christopher Tilson. They carried them off to Brentford, and put them in a stable. They got another man to help them carry the animals off because William had told him that they belonged to him. William Hacker and William Field were convicted at Old Bailey Sessions in April of 1730. William was sentenced to transportation. Not only was he being transported to American colonies, but he was to be an indentured servant for seven years once he got there. Luckily for William, during that court session, other people had worse punishments. Ten
Last night there was shooting in the grocery store. Mr. Le, owner of the store, shot his customer, Mr. Williams. Mr. Le didn’t want to hurt anyone. Mr. Williams was wrong because he was angry and Mr. Le was afraid. Mr. Le taught Mr. Williams was robbed. Mr. Williams didn’t want to rob the store. her name, Sam: a name that is usually considered masculine resulting in the couple Darrin and Sam, alternatively the Stephens family. Sam is the partner who is out for herself and her family. It appears she would be perfectly happy with shedding the mortal world and living completely.
The allusion samaritan is referred to in the bible and it is a person who is generous in helping those in distress. So by using “Select Samaritan” the reader is able to understand what the poem is going to be talking about. The couple are trying to be samaritans by adopting two children who do not have a place to call home, but are very selective when its comes to adopting them. This also shows how human nature has to satisfy themselves even when they are trying to do something for the good of another
A writer’s intent to address an issue may often be embedded and masked within the story. We find authors doing so through the perspective of the main character. They are commonly issues that are too hard to address straight forward, but are subtly presented through the acts of the main character. Sam Spade, for starters, is a great first example.
One crucial piece of evidence is used to support this theory. “Previous examiners had missed it, and several accounts of the case have referred to it as a ‘secret pocket,’ but it seems to have been intended to hold a fob watch. Inside, tightly rolled, was a minute scrap of paper, which, opened up, proved to contain two words, typeset in an elaborate printed script. The phrase read ‘Tamám Shud.’ Frank Kennedy, the police reporter for the Adelaide Advertiser, recognized the words as Persian, and telephoned the police to suggest they obtain a copy of a book of poetry—the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. (Dash, “The Body on Somerton Beach”). The “Tamán Shud” note in the man’s pocket supports the suicide hypothesis. The Rubaiyat contains poems about living life to the fullest and not being sorry when it’s over. The meaning of the phrase, “ended,” indicates the man was at an ending of some sort when he tore the paper out. The labels were removed not only from his clothing, which a murderer could have done to stop identification of the body, but they were removed from his suitcase and everything inside. It is possible the Somerton Man did that himself, before leaving the train station. He had no substantial bruises, injuries, or defensive wounds that would usually be present had he been attacked and fought for his life. The forensic examination show his last meal
