Many kids today don’t like school, and many parents and teachers don’t understand why. “The amout of homework we have is unreal, I spend all my time afterschool locked up in my room doing homework and can never get any sleep,~Student.” Now, the school board plans to add and and a half hours to the school day, and I think that this is not fair. The school board should not add an extra hour and a half to the school day because kids will have less time to do homework, they will not recieve enough sleep, and they will have less time afterschool. To start things off, the school board should not add anymore time to the school day because the students will have less time to do homework. For many kids, homework is extremly stressful, and that can
Schools should have later start times. Students need more sleep so students do not grow up to have a health risk. This example proves that because According to The National Sleep Foundation “ Adolescents today face a widespread chronic health problem: sleep deprivation.” Also students do not perform at their best during school when they are tired. This example proves that because According to education.com “ I
The one reason why schools should stay at the same times is because Students who participate in sports, or other extracurricular activities typically meet for several hours after school. If school times are later, that means that these activities would continue later on in the day. This would make it difficult for students to participate and still have enough time to study, finish homework, participate in social activities, get to work on time and still get to bed at a decent
40% of kids go to school after 8:00 am and those kids have less time to do their homework. The average school start time in greenwich is 7:50am the end time is approximately 2:51pm. I say schools should not change their start times because it's better for parents, it's better for transportation and it’s better after school activities.
If an hour and half of school were added every day, students would miss after school activities. Students will miss the fun extracurricular activities. and students won’t get the exercise they need.
Peoria Notre Dame should start classes at 7:30 and end them at 2:30 because it would give students more free time after school. Many pupils have a job after school. They also have a lot of homework. When school ends at 3:05 it can be difficult for students to study and do other activities. If school ended at 2:30 students would be able to accomplish their tasks in a timely manner.
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. Do you agree or disagree? I disagree strongly on this topic because school is already stressful and having to do one hour and a half of work each school day probably make us just absolutely hate school. That one hour and a half can change a lot, because of being so bored because could do some very dumb things which could cause people's lives to be changed.
In conclusion, high schools should keep the time to start and end school the way it is. It is not worth it if students comes back from school later in the afternoon and doesn’t know what to do before dark comes. Even if they do know what they’re gonna do like probably go to work, do after school activities, and activities outside from home. The whole school gets affected because for teachers who have a young child they won’t be able to do anything they want before their child comes home from school. So if everyone get’s a negative affect by this then it’s truly not worth the money to change the
Later start times, schools all over the states have been going back and forth between should schools have earlier start times or not. But schools shouldn't start later because it's dangerous and costs money. Schools shouldn't have late start times because it's dangerous and costs money against the school districts.
Research proves that when a teenager tries to change their sleeping schedule it becomes difficult because they are used too going to sleep late. Some high schools are thinking about changing the time they begin and let out so that students could get on the right sleeping track. Schools should not change the time because some students are already used too the schedule that they have now.
Extending the length of the school day will leave no time for kids to enjoy their lives outside of learning. I disagree with extra time being added to the school day. Students may become burned out and too tired to pay attention to their teacher. To begin with, adding time to the school day would limit the amount of time I could spend with my friends and family. Also, leaving the school day as it is will allow me to spend more time hunting and fishing. Finally, extending the school day will decrease or do away with after school activities. As can be seen, a kids life outside of school is greatly impacted by not being able to do the things that are enjoyable to them.
Parents and teachers constantly tell students that they should concentrate on school and homework, but how can they do so when they cannot focus? Most of the time this lack of focus is caused by sleep deprivation which is induced by school activities and work, both of which cannot be avoided. Schools expect students to wake up early, be lectured for 8 hours, and then stay up late with sports, music, and/or homework. These tired students with large workloads have risks to their bodies and minds. Allowing schools to start later would be beneficial to students’ health, safety, and academic performance.
Millions of students across the globe have other activities and responsibilities to take care of other than school. When school is released for the day, they expect to have time to complete those responsibilities, but instead they have 4 different packets of homework. In this day and age, you would think school boards would recognize that students don’t only go to school Monday through Friday. Daily homework needs to be limited in order to give opportunity to other students that may want to take on a job or other hobbies.
With these long school days children don’t have much time to go out and be a kid. By the time children get home and finish all their homework, there really isn’t much time for sports or spending time with friends and family. Long hours of school put too much pressure on students. According to the state, students are supposed to have three and a half hours of homework a night. Students are assigned about 17 hours of homework a week. There is a total of 168 hours in a week and 64 of those hours are taken from us by school and homework. Out of the 24 hours in a day school, homework, and sleep take 18 hours, which leaves students with just 6 hours to do things. Combine that with sports and after school activities, the average practice for most sports are 2 to 3 hours, which leaves the student with only 3 hours for themselves. If you add dinner into the equation which can take up to an hour ,then students only have two hours a day. Some students also have chores which can take up to an hour or even sometimes more. What can a student do with only 1 hour of time a day for their personal goals.
Some people think that we should have an 8 hour school day. Having a longer school could help
If you’re cooped up in school during the day, then have to do your homework when you get home, you’ll develop poor health. A much better solution would be to do all the learning you need to do in one place, in a short amount of time. When you stop school, that’s the time for you to play and go outside and get exercise.Seven hours of school should be enough to learn anything. Sure, let’s say that you have recess and lunch--there’s still a good five hours where you’re studying. If you can’t learn what you need in that time, there’s a problem. Rather than giving you lots of homework after school to compensate, schools should look at how they can rework teaching systems in class to make the most of the time you have in
