Cheating or Plagiarizing should be expelled from college
Students caught cheating or plagiarizing should be expelled from college because they are dishonest, thieves, and will end up becoming poor professionals. With this in mind, students should be aware of what it takes to be honest in college. College life is not a game. If students steal the professor’s test or uses their classmate work, they don’t deserve to be called ‘’students.’’ How will people view them if they take information from a classmate who works hard on their assignment? This kind of students should be expelled for cheating. For example, last semester a student from my math class came into the classroom before class was about to begin and went through the professors desk and found the answer key while the professor wasn’t in class.

For example, if a student is really smart and he or she can use the computer and steal information, and run up credits card bills. One of my best friends is from high school he was a very smart kid before the school Dean told him he couldn’t come back to school anymore because of a grade point average was class low every day, and getting into physical fights with other students. He was very frustrated when he heard the news that he wasn’t ever coming back to school. It was his senior year of high school and he wanted revenge, a cool kid turning into a criminal. He went back to school at night when nobody was on campus. He broke a glass door window with a hammer and went to the cafeteria and stole a bunch of money from the cash register, went to the office took couple of jewels than all of a ‘’suddenly’’ the emergency bell ranged. He tried to make an escaped but there were bunch of cops outside the front of the school. He was surrounded. They handcuffed him and he was placed on the top ten list crime. It will stay in your records for the rest of your life
Plagiarism is an increasing large issue on college campuses, a habit to most of the student. According to the article ‘’The Plagiarism Plague’’, the findings on the survey made to 50,000 students on more than 60 campuses was that 70 percent of the students admitted that they cheated. Half of the students surveyed admitted that one or more times made serious cheating on writing assignments, with 77 percent of the students surveyed said that cheating was not a serious issue.
For many students, failure is not an option. Their need to succeed outweighs the risk of getting caught while cheating. In her article, “College Cheating: Success Above Honor”, Carla Rivera writes, “Studies find that students feel under more pressure than ever to succeed and increasingly see cutting corners
75% of college students cheat at one time or another in their college careers due to laziness, competitive pressures, or simply fear. In “Cheating Lessons: Part 3”, by James M. Lang, he explains that certain learning environments unknowingly give students opportunities to cheat. Lang also provides tactics to help classrooms reduce the numbers of cheating, while aiding students to achieve their academic goals with the right “tools.”
The students are not going to willingly make their lives more difficult than they already are. The amount of homework a student has can be overwhelming. To cheaters, it’s not about integrity or “doing the right thing”. To them, doing the right thing, is doing what needs to be done no matter how you do it . Research shows that 40% of students who have violated the honor code and have not been caught. Cheaters will always find newer and better ways to cheat ,whether it’s at school or at home, and still get away with it. There is no way to get rid of cheating.
When asking a student do they think cheating is bad most will say yes and will even admit to cheating.Cheating doesn’t affect many students on a regular day basis until they have been caught red-handed.When it comes to cheating blame automatically goes to the student but what about the adult as well.Some teachers have admitted to seeing student cheat but haven't said anything because it was on homework.Some teachers have even gone to the depth of helping a student cheat on a test.There was a survey that was taken through all of the high schools asking students if they had ever cheated on a test, the results were that there were 64 percent who cheated,58 who plagiarised, and above all 95 percent of them admitted to cheating of some sort.(Academic Integrity Under Statistics paragraph 3 )Students cheat to make it through a semester and to make their parents proud.Students cheat simply because of lack of knowledge, pressure from the adult looking for them to do their best, and last lack of time.
The issue of plagiarism is not new; however, access to material through different types of websites and sources are always available to the public. Plagiarism is copying, either intentionally or unintentionally, other people’s work. It is a form of cheating and if you do it you will be committing an academic offense. When you decide to copy and paste someone’s thoughts and turn it in for a grade, unfortunately, you have plagiarized.
After reading “Stuyvesant Students Describe the How and the Why of Cheating” by Vivian Yee, I can wholeheartedly agree with the opinions and facts presented in the article. Why? The cheating described, whether light or serious, is prevalent in the schools that I have attended. The goal of attending a prestigious university and obtaining a prestigious job has led to a craze over grades, to the point where students describe the feeling as “...addictive, in a bad way, in a sick way” (Yee 20). Similarly, the craze over better grades has led to various actions of cheating such as plagiarism and copying of answers. The problem of plagiarism can be seen in different areas. The most common is found in academics. Usually plagiarism is copying, stealing someone else ideas. A student who is found quilty of plagiarism can be suspended or expelled (Nall and Gherwash, 2012). When comp arrives the policies of Gorge Brown ands the definitions of plagiarism are virtually the same, but the presentation of rules concerning plagiarism are very different. While Gorge Brown is very concise, Seneca is more detailed, but lacks organization.

At my high school, almost everyone cheated and it made me absolutely sick. How did my fellow peers feel it was okay to pass off plagiarized work as their own to our teachers? It disgusted me, the lack of academic integrity. Raskin seemed to experience the same situation when he states, “Students in Advanced Placement and honors classes are bombarded with the message that good grades in hard courses are the key to college acceptance. Cheating, as a result, is a very direct manifestation of the competitive culture, urging young people to put aside honesty in order to attend a good university and continue on to join the cut-throat economic culture in our country” (2012, p. 25). As a former Advanced Placement (AP) student myself, I understand the struggle to maintain high merits, the pressure to appease parents, and striving to achieve the satisfaction of being at the top of your class. Schools today have a very large problem with academic dishonesty. Not only high schools, but also colleges as well have and abundance of students who cheat regularly. Although cheating is addressed in many school policies, a shocking number of students get away with it, and teachers do nothing about it. Throughout the years of school, the constant lecture of cheating is one that many teachers instruct to their students. No matter the circumstance, cheating of any form does not bring any positive outcome that makes it worthwhile. Whether it’s a test, quiz, or homework, a student takes a major risk if decided upon to cheat. When teachers notice an issue of cheating they may report to administration, the student could be dismissed from an organization, or colleges could be notified about this behavior.

There are many views that oppose the claim, Universities and colleges should require students to report a fellow student whom they see cheating on work or plagiarizing on an essay. One opposing view is that universities and colleges should not require students to report their classmates if they are cheating because it could affect the way people look at them.
