Teaching music comes in all different kinds of methods and views. Music plays a very vital role in our school systems, and is arguably just as important as any other subject. The teacher pays various roles in the classroom, but always keeps the students’ best interest in mind. The student also plays various roles in the classroom, but is always expected to come to class ready to learn. The curriculum allows teachers to create clear and concise lesson plans that fit the students needs. And effective instructional methods will vary from student to student, and effective teachers will try several methods to breakthrough to the student.

Elementary schools and high schools across the U.S. have lately suffered from financial strain. Because of this, budget cuts have to be made and music programs often suffer before sports and academics. Although some people believe that music is not a key component in preparing for employment and higher education, yet several others express otherwise, who say music has been shown to stimulate other parts of a student’s mind that can help them excel. Statistics have shown that the correlation between music class and other academia is not only positive for students, but also can improve future scholastic abilities, and thus should not be cut from schools. With society’s ever increasing price tag of education, public schools have gone to great lengths to cut costs from the unessential activities during and after school hours. First it was music programs and art classes; however, with the desperate need for teachers, athletic programs have felt the grunt of this expedition. Now, more than ever, youths in our communities are battling serious problems. Not only are sports and organized athletic programs vital to physical development, but also mental growth and offer children structure and goals. Unfortunately, many schools have to cut back or even eliminate sports/athletic programs due to lack of funding.

An option for them is to get a physical job, they could be really good at sports and want a physical job. But, when can we practice these skills other than recess. Let’s be serious, which teacher would allow their students to exercise in school besides the gym teacher. If we can’t even run and talk in the hallways, then why would we be able to throw a ball around or play basketball. They can practice these skills during recess time.

Music is all around us, no matter where you are. Shouldn’t we be able to listen to it in school too? Students should be allowed to listen to music in class because it keeps them on task, memorizing important informations is easier, and it tunes out distractions helping you focus.

The elementary school I work at services students in a low- socioeconomic area. At least, 75% of our students qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Meaning, in their households there is not much extra (if any) money to participate in sports.

A student who joins band or choir is most likely joining to try something new. Many students join to learn new skills like discipline or to sing/play an instrument. Along with learning a new skill, students can learn leadership abilities and time management. At Hebron Middle School, band/choir classes are important to many students. Although many students join band/choir, many do not find an interest or need to withdraw from the class. In many schools, 100% of students join band/choir and about 1-2 years later, at least 50% quit.

Over 5 million students across our nation are enrolled in a public or private school. (Digest) Just over 2 million of them are involved in some sort of music activity. Many of the activities belong to music programs that are being thrown away and destroyed because of an insufficient amount of funds. (Gorman) Schools across the country are becoming the helpless victims to budget cuts, with music programs taking the biggest hit. Because of the shrinking budgets, school districts around the nation are being forced to drastically decrease the amount of support/funds for their music programs, or to completely cut them out of the district. There are a lot of fun and creative clubs and classes in our school. I think that classes of arts people enjoy the most. Because you don't have to worry about a lot of work. Specifically choir. Choir can be a stress relief for a lot of people, and it's just something I know a lot of people enjoy.

In my spare time, I like to cheer and run track. Some extracurricular activities I participate in are Key Club, French club, scrapbooking club, and Show choir.

Music, one of the most unappreciated things at school. The school should put more money into the music program, music is important and it raises IQ, helps people get into college, and opens opportunities for good professions when they get older. People love music and it will never leave that person that knows how to play. They will find himself sitting in their room playing their instrument because they are bourd. Schools don’t put a lot of money into band for a couple of reasons one being not enough students that are in that program.

Public school music programs are essential for every student. There are many benefits of a music program in public schools. One benefit of a music program in public school is that it helps students to build their memorization skills. This is true because ever since I was participating in a music program in my public school my memorization skills improved tremendously. Another reason public school music programs are essential to every student is that it can improve their hand-eye coordination, this is also true because ever since I was in band my soccer skills improved. Many schools have cut music programs due loss of funding, and loss of interest. Some believe it is a waste of time, and music is another expense on bills, a weight in our wallets. This is widely believed by parents and educators to be a big mistake. Music, whether taught in or outside of school, helps students excel in the following ways I have stated Music is beneficial to students in schools.
