The cold war was a propaganda-based relationship that developed between the U.S and USSR after the world war two in 1945 1. It was a form of conflict of beliefs and ideologies. The powers involved were the capitalism and communism. Russians were communists while the USA stood for capitalism. During this form of war, each of the two powers struggled for global dominance by seizing every opportunity to expand her territories worldwide. By then Russia was a union of various Eastern countries including the present day Ukraine and Georgia. These countries came up after the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
Cold war, as historians believe was inevitable since it was spontaneous. It was all about tension. The U.S was afraid of Joseph Stalin, the USSR leader and his fast growth in Eastern Europe that he might be planning to take full control of the entire world. On the other hand, Joseph Stalin resented America for their refusal to accept USSR as one of the legitimate members of international community and also their delay in participating in the world-war 2 which claimed millions of lives under the sphere …show more content…

In October 1957, the Soviet Union launched an artificial satellite; the Sputnik to be placed in the earth’s orbit [4].This came with unpleasant surprise to the United States. America feared that USSR was going to deliver nuclear weapons into the U.S space. To counteract this USA developed and launched her satellite, the Explorer 1 in 1958. The cold war spread to the rest of the world with some countries in support of USA and others USSR. Cold war came to a close when President Richard Nixon of the United States came to power. He developed new approaches to international relations and finally the cold war ended from the onset of 1900. The Soviet Union along with other nuclear states signed an agreement to mitigate continued manufacture of nuclear weapons
