There have been no remarkable changes since the last reporting period. He continues to deny his sexual deviancy and blame away his current problems on the victims in this case. At times Joseph is engaging and is able to apply what he has learned in treatment to areas in his life that he desires change, but when he believes there is a real threat to his freedom to operate as he pleases, he shuts down and retorts with, “I just don’t think about it”. Joseph as a way to keep him emotionally safe and not allow others to get close to him commonly uses this canned answer. Joseph continues to believe and behave as if rules do not apply to him, he continues to consume alcohol and not observe the curfew that was set in place early June. “They
Aerial firefighting is becoming the main process of putting out wildfires and forest fires. This process was used in the 1920’s when someone attempted to drop water from an aircraft onto a fire and failed, but eventually succeeded over time. In 1935, the (AFCEP), also known as the Aerial Fire Control Experimental Project was created for this occasion of multiple wildfires everywhere in the world. The original way to deal with fires took longer to do because fire trucks could only hold a certain amount of water and when they ran out of water, they would have to drive a far distance to find water. Helicopters can supply tons of water and with the ability to fly, they can move
When Joseph was thirteen, he made a decision to fall in love in order to distract his mind from the abuse he was suffering at home. The text states “ “.(Shmidt). Everyday, Joseph would walk seven miles to see his loved one and when they eventually had a child, his dedication sky rocketed. This impacted his life greatly because when Madison died during labor, he became depressed, and he wasn't even able to see his daughter because he was underage. Joseph felt so low, that he even accepted drugs from another's student in his school, and this made him insane enough to strangle a teacher. He then was sent to prison, and eventually ended up in a foster home. This all wouldn’t have happened if Joseph was smart enough to stay out of a serious relationship at such a young age. This section of the book informs the reader that your decisions can greatly impact your life. Once again, Joseph’s decision to enter a serious relationship impacted his life, and in this case the impact was
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire is one of the most well known fire that has every happened in American Industrial history. The company was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris who were rumored to have purposely caught their past companies on fire to collect the large fire insurance payment. This was not the case with this fire but Harris and Blanck did not take responsibilities for safety measures. Deadly fires are bound to happen when the owners of a company neglect the safety of their workers and that is what caused this fire.
Joseph also assumes that if you are not a true image of man then you are considered a deviation. He suspects that if you are a deviation then you are sent by the devil. Additionally, if you are a deviation then you don't deserve to live. Altogether, Joseph is seen to be a man who is viciously devoted to his religion.
Nestled deep in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the Linville Gorge is a federally designated wilderness area that is part of Pisgah National Forest. This unique slice of southern Appalachia is managed by the Grandfather Ranger District and is located in the Blue Ridge Escarpment near the town of Marion, NC. To the east, Linville Gorge is bordered by Jonas Ridge, and the slopes of Linville Mountain form the western border. The two steep sides create a terrain that is extremely rugged and rocky, which would seemingly make it difficult for vegetation to establish communities on the canyon walls. However, this is not the case, as the gorge has very dense populations of hardwoods, conifers, and understory shrubs. The intimidating topography of the Linville Gorge Wilderness area enabled it to be
Aunt Harriet comes over one day to exchange her deviated baby with Mrs. Strorm’s baby for an inspection. This is against the law, so Joseph suddenly takes control. He has to prove that he is in power. To prove his authority, he has Aunt Harriet killed the next day. Another example of authority is the tail-less cat incident. Joseph finds out that the cat has no tail, and tries to control the situation. He kills the cat, only to later find out that the cat was perfectly legal. These examples all show that Joseph has the power in most situations. If he doesn't have the power, or is proven wrong, he is extremely ashamed. Joseph Strorm is very authoritive in the community of Waknuk.
Joseph eventually gained promotions to great prosperity. He was still very young and longed to be reunited with his family. Joseph forgave his brothers for the sins they committed against him. Joseph assured that his family was provided for after their reconciliation. Still, his brothers did not trust him and feared that he would retaliate against them. Joseph always stayed faithful to God, no matter what the situation. He knew that God was faithful and would take care of him if he
Just this sentence shows how much Joseph has developed and matured as a person throughout the novel. It asserts that even if Tom were to act as if he didn’t exist and hide in his room all day Joseph would still want him to come out, because he believes that he is a wonderful person who is wasted hiding away like that.
Many fire service personnel that have fifteen or twenty years of service have seem many things change over time. One radical change is the way fires consume structures today when compared structures years ago, these fires have be classified as modern and legacy fires. When responding to a modern construction fire versus a legacy fire, does it change how we fight these fires? Well the answer to that is simply yes! Modern construction physiognomies have greatly changed to accommodate the comfort of the homeowner, which is not firefighter friendly. In modern construction home the floor plans are larger in size to give more living space. As the living spaces grow the footprint of the residence increases as well. As the word modern leads to occupants thinking comfort, when truthfully causes disadvantageous consequences for the fire service with open geometrics, new construction materials, and also include an increased fire load. All these construction advantages only lead to faster propagation of the fire, as well decreases the amount of time for a flashover to occur. Modern construction has led to hasty changes in fire dynamics, which at the same time decreases the amount of time to escape to safety. The structural collapse time is greater since the amount of time as been lessened
Fire district 13 is located in the forested valleys and steep foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range at the base of Mount St. Helens. Access to our district, primarily reached by one main county road, is limited. With automatic mutual aid to neighboring districts with, major rail, and freeway- interoperability is key. Located above the Cascadia Subduction zone, Clark County is due for a catastrophic earthquake. The area that includes fire district 13 is a transitional zone between unoccupied forest land and human development. Being a part of the wildland urban interface zone puts us at a higher risk for wildfires.

No one understood what he was going through and he had no one to lean on. Because he has to deal with everything himself, he has many internal and external conflicts. He has to deal with the fact that his only friend and the love of his life is gone forever. Unfortunately, he does not fully share his thoughts or problems to the reader or people around him. With a positive tone, the author states that "it was inside him and outside him, and it was already starting to scream, and it was getting louder and his brain was getting louder and he threw water in his face but he couldn’t stop it” (Schmidt 82). This quote displays the fact that he is a very troubled boy who has a lot on his plate. Joseph has to overcome all of his problems by himself, and he feels like he is going to explode. Joseph is also becoming a dynamic character because he starts to get closer to his family. Once he does this, he beings to tell them his story, and what had happened to him. This is an incredibly important part in the story because it really shows the reader what Joseph is like on the inside. Similarly, it explains that he is capable of sharing his
