Currently, 1 billion people suffer from hunger, yet, about 1.5 billion adults are overweight. Currently, the quantity of food produced globally is more than enough to feed the global population, however, the increased food prices, uneven distribution of food around the globe, and the quality of food production practices correlates with the threatening factors that catalyze human induced climate change. Not to mention the population is expected to rise to 9 billion by 2050 which will augment the demand for food production. Solving the issue of world hunger is a complex algorithm involving economic, psychological, and environmental factors. In order to formulate a plan on how to effectively solve the modern crises of world hunger the factors must be addressed and analyzed. Chiefly, modern day farming can sometimes be described as a double-edged sword. Using chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides have been normalized in mass production of food in the last few decades in order protect crops from pests to maximize the quantity farmers are able to produce, however, the chemicals do not always kill every pest and the pests who survive live on to pass their traits onto their offspring and create super plants that can withstand these chemicals. This chain of events results in a failed crop owned by a soon to be bankrupt farmer who is unable to pay back the big name company for the expensive chemicals.
