Did the weapons of WWII have an impact on the world? Yes, they did. Without them, the Allies wouldn’t have won the war. Americans wouldn’t have defeated Japan without the atomic bomb. America wouldn’t have defeated the Nazis either without the planes of WWII. The aircraft carriers, planes missiles, and atomic bombs of WWII had a big impact on the world. First, aircraft carriers played an important role in WWII. They were important at Coral Sea. At the time, Japan was trying to take over the Islands there in order to attack Australia. In response, the United States sent in the Navy to stop them. Because of the aircraft carriers, America won the battle. They were also important in the Battle of Midway. The U.S.S. Enterprise, an American …show more content…
Planes were important in the Pacific war. The B-29 delivered weapons to American soldiers in the region. Those weapons helped them win many major battles against the Japanese. They also helped America win the war. The B-29 was used to drop the “Little Boy” bomb on Hiroshima and “Fat Man” on Nagasaki. Planes were also important during WWII.
Thirdly, missiles also were important in WWII. Missiles were important in the Pacific war. The Americans used them to defend the Pacific Islands from the Japanese. Missiles lead to a weapon, the bazooka. In order to defeat Japan, the United States developed the weapon. The bazooka was very destructive. They also had a big effect on the world. Today, many countries around the world use missiles for defense and offense during conflicts. Missiles were also important in the war.
Finally, the atomic bomb was the most important of all. Atomic bombs were used to attack Japan. The United States destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with these weapons, as you learned earlier in this report. They also helped the war with Japan end. The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced the emperior of Japan to surrender. The Americans have won the war in the Pacific. Atomic bombs are still being used today. Countries all over the world use these weapons to win wars. They use atomic bombs because the weapons are very destructive. Even atomic bombs were important during
The first way the bombers helped impact America is by defeating the Nazi regime in World War II. The bombing missions carried out in the European Theater where most done by the B-17 and B-24 bomber planes. The B-29 saw more action in the Pacific. He main missions was to clear Nazi fortifications and
Airplanes were in a similar position as tanks - the technology was really too new and immature for effective combat use. At best, the airplane provided better observation and reconnaissance ability than previously available, but, in a static trench-warfare setting (with the commonly poor European weather), the amount of benefit this provided is easy to overstate. Tactical and strategic bombing was non-existent; the airplane would have to wait for the wars of
Dropping two nuclear bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima Japan was single handedly one of the most influential nuclear events to have ever happened. Not only did it change diplomatic relations around the world, it changed The United States. Even to this day The United States has been the only country to use a weapon of this magnitude on a civilian city; over two hundred and twenty five thousand people perished in a result of the atomic bomb. The sheer development of the atomic bomb resulted in Russia getting ahold of atomic secrets, which worried Americans in the Cold War. The use of the atomic bomb changed America by ending World War Two, advancing our understanding of science, and changing world politics forever.
The way that society functioned would forever be changed by the advances made during the war. For example, air warfare was central to the tactics used in WWII, and planes needed constant updates so that air warfare could be as efficient and safe as possible. “Air superiority was the goal of both the Allies and the Axis, each dedicating as much man/woman and machine power possible to produce the ultimate air weapon” (source 2) Thus, jet aircraft were born. Consistent effort and the stress of war produce significant technological progress. Due to aircraft innovation, after the war, commercial passenger planes came into existence.. Passenger planes and the changes they inspired would never be possible without the aviation progress necessitated by WWII. In the modern day, due to concerns about soldiers’ safety and the issue of human error, war has begun to be fought by self driving ground and air
The first tanks came with the internal combustion engine and caterpillar tracks. These, however, were quite unreliable and broke down very frequently. The naval force devised bigger, stronger ships with bigger guns. Their new and improved submarines were imperative in this war. They aided in the strategy of war of attrition, or breaking the enemy down by attacking its personnel and supplies.[viii]
Ships were also revolutionized during the World War II era. Naval technology was very poor at the time, but once radar technology was developed, navigation and detection was made much easier for submarine and ship pilots. The invention of radar was still very new — being developed only 2 years prior to the start of World War II. Hours of experimentation and development were poured into enhancing radar technology so that the allied forces could better combat the Nazi fleet. Aircrafts were also made more advanced during World War II. Aviation in general was very new at the time, so optimizing what basic aircrafts we had at the time for battle (by equipping them with guns and bombs) was a challenging feat. Considering the first powered flight had taken place only in 1903, only 40 years before
Aircraft and the war materials are important to any war. The aircraft in the war was very different for each person. They had many different types of aircraft depending on their way of flying. Also the designed it based on how “dangerous” they felt they were. During the war there were over forty different versions of the very successful aircraft from Germany. They wouldn’t build them based on if they were better for fighting or if they were better for flying. They based them on how the person flying them wanted the aircraft to be. This caused problems for Germany. It is very time consuming for Germany. It took a long time to build each of the planes. Since they were all different they
The result of World War II was affected by many different factors. One major factor which affected the war was the weapons and artillery used during the war. Since the beginnings of time, weapons have always been around. From swords and knives to nuclear weapons and missiles, weapons have evolved greatly throughout the years. The weapons and artillery used in World War II basically were evolved types of weaponry that were used during World War I (Military History 1).
With the invention of the machine gun the fighter plane was created and the first flying “aces” arose. This was important because when both sides were entrenched it became the job of the planes to create an opening. In addition to fighter planes the creation of bombers played a vital role in the war and in subsequent wars. Planes were now able to just drop a bomb on the enemy, causing a large amount of damage. The advancements in aircraft made during wartime paved the way for future generations to create advanced airplanes with useful additions like precise maneuvering equipment and missiles. In addition, post-war advancements include the invention of the tri-motor in 1926, the first single engine plane in 1927, and the first transatlantic passenger plane also in 1927. WWI had a huge effect on the development of plane technology because without it people may have never realized the potential for air warcraft except for the few pilots with the vision of dropping bombs on the
For many people, it is hard to think of the current world without airplanes. This simple fact is what makes them so important to talk about in society. They might be overlooked sometimes, but they have added a lot to history and should not be taken for granted for what they achieve. To focus on a few countries, the United States of America and Great Britain, the invention of airplanes had some of its largest impact on them. Whether that be in terms of travel or warfare, these countries benefited more than the average. Planes made a whole new empire and became a necessity for everyday people, while also creating more jobs through the business of creating airlines. Something very robust for the time was how planes introduced a profession
Different weapons used in the war are, atomic bombs, aircrafts, tanks, bombs, bazookas and battleships. These weapons were very useful in the war because it helped the allies defeat the axis and get rid of the Holocaust. The aircraft's would fly over and can drop hundreds of bombs. The B-24 liberators had four engines and they could travel three thousand miles, with 10 soldiers, 10 machine guns and many bombs. Another weapon used in the war was grenades, bombs and atomic bombs. These explosives can cause lots of damage to a village. When the americans created the atomic bombs it cost lots of money and years to fully complete it. A third type of weapon used are the tanks, these powerful vehicles were covered in armor and had very powerful guns,
The atomic bomb saved millions of lives by if we would have just invaded japan it would've been one of the most bloodiest wars. it would have been many, many times greater than the 200,000+ people that died from the atomic bombings. Japan would have lost so much more than what it had actually suffered. The US decided whether to invade or not but they decided that the atomic bomb was the route go to go without a lot of casualties.
In ww2 , the atomic bomb was dropped on japan to put an immediate end to the war and not draw other countries (i.e. the soviet union or china) into fighting combatively against the U.S. As far as foreign relations go, it proved to the world that the U.S was the most powerful country in that time ( superpower) . This also relates to several years later during the cold war. It prompted the Soviet Union to develop their own nuclear warfare. (i.e us comes out with hydrogen bomb and a year later USSR develops one). It's also the first introduction of Nuclear weapons to the world
The use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a positive outcome for the United States by creating less casualties in war. The use of the bomb gave the United States a trump card in warfare to come making way to a forced wave of diplomacy in war. Then the bomb established an example of why all out warfare can no longer occur, and forced the way of warfare to change. The bombing also set a new standard for war that the majority of other countries could not, and for some still can not, meet which causes subjacent nations not to fight as much as they would have.
The Atomic Bomb was created and used to help end WWII. Many countries came together to help design and make the bomb. More than 130,000 scientists put their lives and their families lives at risk by making these bombs. After the bombs were made and the hard decision to drop them ended, the atomic bomb changed the future forever. Nuclear weapons even made the rules of war change to save mankind and this planet.
