It would be one of the many things you would see in the forest with the devil, it being one of many demons that afflict us. The symbolism in this tale of woe is rampant with biblical references, and as a servant of the devil you will want to know why this relates to this tale of those reaching the promised land of wanton sin.

The evidence lie in the aforementioned quotes. The power he wields over his choir("Welcome, my children," said the dark figure, "to the communion of your race! Ye have found, thus young, your nature and your destiny. My children, look behind you!"
