The first footsteps we've ever taken are the ones that have imprinted the inside of our mothers' stomachs. Mothers don't just give birth to us, they give us a life to live. Now, some might say mothers are supposed to give birth; it's a natural process that is their duty. It's physically straining to have a child, but it takes a true warrior to raise a child. It is often forgotten how much they continuously provide for us and how many sacrifices they make. My mother has been my inspiration, not because of her title as my mother but because she is the prime example of a what I call a hero.

The person who I consider to be a hero is my mom, FBI Special Agent Jill Stillman. She is more than a typical mom because she protects and serves our country everyday, but first makes sure to be up at 6:00am to wake me and my brother up so we can dress, eat breakfast and get to the bus stop. She always puts us first before herself along with my two dogs and cat and then she gets ready for work. I consider her a hero because after the 9/11 attacks, she helped capture and eliminate Osama Bin Laden. She has investigated criminal and counterterrorism cases and early in her career, she found evidence against the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing subject Tim McVey to send him to prison. During World War ll, Frank Foley was helping the Jews get off 8 trains. He did the right thing, and was the hero because he helped the Jews survive. Jews were afraid of what might happen to them. Other people stood by and did nothing, but Frank Foley made correct choices during the holocaust.

My mom, Rachel is one of the people I look up to the most in life because she has taught me that no matter what the issue in front of you is, you can always get through it. She was born in Wrangell, Alaska but grew up in Sedro-Woolley. This is where she ended up having a baby at eighteen years old. These figures drive their followers to be their best in everything they do. Well, my hero drives me to school and wears an apron that has “World’s Best Mom” written on it. Determination and willpower, positivity, and humility are some of her most outstanding attributes. My mom is the driving force behind the well-shaped person that I am today; she is by far the biggest influence on my life.

The person that comes to mind when talking about overcoming a life-threatening obstacle and shared their story by making me feel inspired is my mom. My mom’s name is Michelle. My hero is my grandma Louise Zobell, my grandma goes to the Dominican Republic once or twice every year just to help the people there. She hosts fundraisers and gives every single penny to them and doesn’t make anything for herself. My grandma also loves and cares for everyone she comes across, and raises money to build houses and schools for them. She buys clothes, blankets, shoes and more, for the people. My Grandma even created a foundation called the Dominican starfish foundation, just to help people. I’m very lucky to be related to such a wonderful, amazing woman. My personal hero is my late maternal grandmother, Doris Hanson. All throughout her life, my grandma was completely dedicated to her family. From organizing family gatherings to attending important events in her grandchildren's life such as birthdays, concerts, and even Sunday School programs to creating special birthday cakes, personalized graduation quilts, and scrapbooks, family was always the predominant thing on her mind.

When I think about the qualities of a hero, I think of someone who is courageous, loving, and selfless. My mom is all of these and more. When I was young and even today, I remember my mom doing things for others. She visited our neighbors, or cared for anyone who was sick or afflicted. My mother because from a young age, she showed me what it meant to be a strong woman, to carve your own niche in the world, speak your mind, and never be defined by societal norms. Her actions and her words contributed to the person I am today. Maryam Mirzakhani, because at age 37, she was the first woman in history to win the Fields medal in Mathematics, opening a door for more women to participate in this challenge.

The most inspiring person I have in my life is my grandfather, Raing Chhorm. He is a father of 3 beautiful daughters. His wife, which is my grandmother, name is Heang Sok and my grandfather always put his family first before his wellbeing. This man Is the most prideful human being I know he never asks others for help. The reasons I’m so inspired by my grandfather is because he’s openminded, courageous, loving.

George R. R. Martin, an american novelist and short-story writer, once said,“My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the world a better place than when they found it, whether in small ways or great ones” (Brainy Quotes). Almost everyone has a dream that tends to lead to a greater good, whether it be as big as world peace or as little as giving medical attention at your local hospital. No matter the size of the goal, there are always multiple jobs made to contribute to the end product. My grandmother is one of these people contributing in a way that she loved, by taking care of others. With hard-work she successfully managed to pitch-in on a larger aspiration. Ruth Neuzil, is a hero to others and to me through her kindness and determination that kept her on the path of success.

My dad is one of my heroes for many reasons. He is in the army and fights for our country. I think that every person in the army is a hero because of how brave they are. My dad would always tell me stories of him killing the bad guys and saving us from the terrorist. One time he shot the enemy and his daughter ran up to my dad and started crying, screaming, and hitting him because he killed her dad, but if he didn’t kill him my dad would’ve been killed. This story really moved me because it’s sad and wonderful at the same time. He shows his heroism because he killed the bad guy to save himself and others, but it’s sad because someone got killed and his daughter was heartbroken. He also had to lead his troops into combat which I think is heroic because it takes a brave person to put themselves first. Also, he didn’t have to be in the army, he chooses to because he wanted to help people even if it meant he was going to be killed. All in all, my dad is one of my heroes who taught me to never take life for granted.
