ROCKWELL.B TEST USING MT 3017

Tosk: Complete a Rockwell B test on four different
materials.
Method:
1. Raise the serew in the pressure cylinder approx.
S cm.
2. Remove the upper pressure plate.
3. Assemble Rockwell B test unit (10 mm steel ball).
4. Screw the lower pressure plate in position.
5. Use the samc test plece as in Experiment 3:1.
6. Position the test piece so thar the steel ball is clear
of the Brinell test indentation and also well centr-
lized.
7. Load the test piece to 100 N for 5 seconds. Increase
the load to 1 kN and hold it for 10 seconds, Reduce
the load to 100 N again and allow it to stand 5
seconds.
8. Romove the test plece and measure the diameter of
the Indentation In a measuring mieroscope. Note
results in the table.
