First, we will analyze the positive half-cycle of the input waveform. Suppose the magnitude of the input voltage source is less than the 3 V, the Si-diode will be in the forward bias. In the forward bias, the Si-diode works as a battery of 0.7 V. But an ideal diode is short-circuited in case of the forward bias. Since the Si-diode is connected reversely with the output.
