Menstruation cycle is part of the female reproductive cycle. It's a series of events which takes place after the unsuccessful fertilization. The uterine lining composed of endometrium and blood capillaries starts degenerating due to sudden decrease in hormone level, causing loss of blood and breakage of uterine tissue. This is called the menstrual flow. The cycle goes for 5-7 days and is governed by various hormones like FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), Estrogen and Progesterone.
