Transcribed Image Text:1. The transducer probe transmits high-frequency sound waves into the
body. The sound waves travel and hit the first boundary. The first
boundary is between fluid and soft tissue, or soft tissue and bone.
2. Some of the waves are reflected back to the transducer probe.
3. Some of the waves continue on to the second boundary.
4. Once the waves hit the second boundary, they get reflected back to the
probe.
5. The probe picks up the reflected waves and sends them to the machine.
6. The machine determines the distance between the probe and the
boundaries by using sound speed in tissue and the time of returning each
reflected wave.
7. The machine shows the intensity and distances of the waves that form a 2-
D image in the display.
