Determine the chain of infection for the following scenarios and describe what you would do to break it. How could the disease have possibly been prevented? SHARING Melanie and April were best of friends. They shared almost everything, even illness sometimes. Although this time it was a little different. Attending, there local fast-food restaurant before the big basketball game, Melanie and April decide to get a quick bite. Order their regular meal (Fries and a Coke of which they shared), they hangout, eat their food, and leave for the game. Melanie had ordered an extra fry to take with her to give to her brother (who is in the game), after he plays. Once at the game they sit court side to get a good view of all their friends that play on the team. Melanie’s older brother is one of the point guards and has even taught her a thing or two about playing ball. They love going to school events and socializing with their friends. Matter of fact, tonight there was not much game watching. Melanie and April were too busy socializing and catching up on school news to be bothered with the game. After the game was done, they had to say good-bye to their friends and quickly head home as Melanie’s brother was giving them a ride, and he had plans with his girlfriend later that evening. He is gracious for his snack, eats his fries in the car, drops the girls at home, and leaves. The next morning Melanie wakes with a fever, chills, and nausea. Having had plans with April that day she calls her to cancel because does not feel well. April is bummed because she was looking forwarded to hanging out with Melanie but feels lucky, she is not sick. At the breakfast table Melanie’s brother complains of similar problems and now Melanie is starting to think. What is going on? Why are we sick and not April?
