Diabetes mellitus is a physiological condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal over an extended period of time even during fasting.

It is associated by the variations in insulin levels (a hormone secreted by pancreas aimed at reducing blood glucose level to normal) either decreased due to decreased production or due to cells being resistant to adequate amount of insulin in the blood.

The complications associated with diabetes are DKA (Diabetic KetoAcidosis), nerve damage, kidney failure and Alzheimer's disease etc.
