One of the systems where recycle is required with hybrid system is Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA).

In PSA, nitrogen and methane are separated in single stage with the help of hybrid systems.

Methane is removed first and then by the process of gas-permeation membrane operation, nitrogen is also removed.

Out of all the possible options to separate both these gases, only hybrid system have the capability to separate the two with maximum percent of separation.

97% of methane is obtained in methane rich compound while 92% of nitrogen is obtained in nitrogen rich compound.

The methane recovery for only the membrane process is 57% and it is 86% with adsorption alone, which is very low compared to hybrid system.
